Me = Anime n00b

I’m going to get a CD burner soon.. i hope.. since my computer is only 8 GB (dies) and i want to burn LOTS AND LOTS OF ANIME!! muahahaha…. it has to be unlicensed of course.. i would never do anything illegal *hides crossed fingers behind back*

I already watch Love Hina since it’s very funny but i need some more suggestions of what anime to get.. i’m looking for something that’s not kidish like Metabots or Pokemon (sorry if this offends anyone) but some comedy sorta anime… and maybe something with a deep kind of storyline… or something… :|… bah just post suggestions and talk a little bit about what it is..

Thanks *hugs all the anime freaks*

Rurouni Kenshin is a good start. So is Eva.

Try Onegai Teacher, To Heart, Comic Party, Sister Princess, and Chobits. They are quite similar to Love Hina, since they all belong in the romance/comedy genres.

he asked for unlicensed anime. all of that is licensed

unlicensed comedy-esque series to check out:

AZUMANGA DAIOH!!!!!
Pretear
Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai (Abenobashi Magical Shopping District)
Hikaru no Go
Puchi Puri Yushi
Kiddy Grade
G-On Riders
Samurai Deeper Kyo
Ground Defense Force! Mao-Chan
Rizelmine

(if any of these have been licensed without me knowing it, let me know)

Lol, I think the kind of anime he/she would like are probably all liscensed. I can’t think of any romance/comedy anime that aren’t liscensed. Maybe it’s because I don’t watch much of that genre?

First of all, most is already licensed, but not out of Japan, so the license is useless in America. The most popular are in America. I recommend Di Gi Charat, not released yet. For licensed there is Ranma, (a love story, comedy hybrid) it’s about a boy who becomes a girl when soaked with cold water(and a boy again with warm water) and his sort of arranged marrige fiancee Akane.

Gundam is also good.
Spriggan
Cowboy Bebop is great
Inuyasha
Blue Seed

Are all good but not in romance/comedy!

Meh.. licensed or unlicensed.. it doesn’t really matter that much though..

thanks for the comments.. i’ve watched a few Chobits eps. before and it was ok… 😐 but i didn’t like it that much.. Cowboy Bebop was fairly good…. Ranma 1/2 (i’ve only seen the first ep.) was good but kinda weird… as for the other anime, i have no idea what it is lol… maybe you could tell me what some of it’s about :uh?: lol *is so lost*.. I’ll probably just download the first episode of stuff and test it out… maybe later since my computer needs a "break" from downloading anime.
:notgood:

Thanks for the help 🙂

Well as long as you watch Akira…for cryin’ out loud you really NEED to watch that lol. It’s the apple pie of anime!

Heh, try Naruto, for heavens sake!

@David F
Dont you agree that among the anime that you listed, Slayers does not really fit in? XD

Aaaaaanyway…
If I lived in America or some other place where actually a lot of anime series are available on tape, on DVD or on TV, I would first check them out before I start a tiresome and not even totally legal download-and-burn business.
Maybe you browse some magazines, websites related to anime and look for a series that you think youll like. 🙂
Stay away from Samurai Deeper Kyo, though. (Or is the anime better than the manga? Should not be that difficult…)

Well, my favorite remains Record of Lodoss War, so I’ll suggest that one.

Well, I guess I’d have to also include my current favourite, Oh, My Goddess! in addition to what’s already been mentioned, if you’re looking for a romantic comedy (although the movie is much darker in theme). The chibi spin-off, The Adventures of the Mini-Goddesses is quite silly, yet hilarious all the same time, and is also worth watching.

However, I recommend reading the manga first, as the Oh, My Goddess! OVA series leaves out large parts of storyline that the manga covered in detail which the anime never really touched on (the intro sequence even features characters from the manga that never even appear in the anime at all, like the demoness Mara.), yet, OMG! is a great anime which can be enjoyed even without any prior knowledge of the manga series on which it’s based.

Trigun is pretty good. It’s a comedy with a nice plot. Rurouni kenshin is also a comedy with a good amount of action. The first few episodes of Video Girl A.I. were hilarious. His and Her Circumsatnces was funny most of the time. I think the Tenchi series has some comedy in it. Other anime titles that are worth the watch, or download, are Serial Experiments Lain, Princess Mononoke, Nightwalker, Outlaw Star, and many others that I have yet to see myself or forgot about. You can try Dragon Ball/z/gt if you want. Type these names in a search bar and find fansites that will tell you about them because it would take way too long to explain each one of these. Happy watching:D .

Nah~ I would not call Trigun and Kenshin comedies… Both series get serious <— :notgood: English sounds funny…

Both series have really really sad moments, and I remember well that I found the later parts of Trigun extremely… *sniffs* touching.

Spriggan (I cant get enough of this)
Noir (serious but hellasweet)
Abenobashi (very funny, very crazy)
scryed (amazing…)
and blue sub 6 is pretty sweet too.

And um, for a mecha anime, try escaflone the movie. (alot different from the show)

After one of these you should be hooked like heroin. Have fun!

I just finished watching a little Escaflowne marathon ^_~ I loved it.

Hmm.. Slayers was already mentioned but that’s a hillarious one.

I’m a big advocate of Record of Lodoss War, one of my personal faves.

Fushigi Yuugi is a comedy romance. o_O Muahahahaha

Good stuffs ^_^

How can you call Trigun not funny!?!?!?!?!? It’s one of the funniest fucking animes I have ever seen. Funnier than Love Hina! True the later episodes do get more serious, but the earlier episodes are a gag! Trigun is definite get!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Golden Boy (the funniest peice of perverted crap ever put in to the world. It is shit your pants funny)
Iria (Kinda corny but worth watching)
Vampire Hunter D ("blood lust" is best.)
Cowboy beebop (this is a godly show)
Noir
Evangelion
Great Teacher Onizuka (really funny)
Ranma 1/2
Inu Yasha
X/1999 (Its good but dont get the movie its just retarded)
Card Captor Sakura (suprisingly good but a little kiddy)
El hazard
Slayers
Yu yu hashuko
Ghost in the shell
Robotech
Macross 7
Burn Up W (naked people jumping from buildings, if thats your thing)
Dirty pair
GeoBreeders (funny)
Kenshin
Trigun

Look up any of those on google or something and you’ll get some pretty good info on them. Most of them are pretty popular. But if comedy is your thing I strongly suggest Glden boy. There are only two tapes (3 eps each) and their pretty cheap so its a good buy.
