Anime and reality are different things, therefore I suppose that would explain the differences…anime artists let go of reality when they create their characters…I think.
Gee…and besides the normal saiyans of DBZ ( Goku and Vegeta, but not turned into Super Saiyans , for instance ), I can hardly think of a character that has BOTH dark hair and eye color…
*Thinks harder*
Hum…perhaps Woodchuk from Record of Lodoss War…AH !!! Yes ! There is ASHRAM !!! The Black Knight !!! NOW you got a KICK-ASS character with dark hair and eye color ( besides Vegeta of course lol )
*Thinks even harder*
Huh…This is hard, damnit :p Most characters with brown hair I know of have blue or green eyes…Parn and Kashue (Lodoss), Shinji ( Evangelion ), Ashton ( Star Ocean EX ), Sakura (Card Captor Sakura)…Oh, yeah, there would be that other card captor, the little boy…His name is Lionel in the french version ( my sister used to watch it on supper time, so that’s why I know a little about it ), but I haven’t the slightest idea what it is in english…
Then , hum…yeah, maybe Tristan from Yu-Gi-Oh ! :p Though that last one isn’t as cool as Joey or Kaiba, if you ask me lol. Gosh, I should be ashamed, liking Yu-Gi-Oh ! at my age . Oh well, the show itself isn’t marvelous, but that card game owns 😉
Oh, and HOW on earth could I forget about Ryu ???? Yeah, THE Ryu from Street Fighter . For those who didn’t know, Street Fighter II V is one great series 😉 And Ryu has both dark hair and eye color, and he’s my favorite Street Fighter ever ! Though strangely enough, he has BLUE EYES in Street Fighter Alpha : The Movie…A pure japanese guy having blue eyes ??? Strange indeed…
So, in short, about the only character I TRULY like that have both dark hair and eye color and that I can think of right away are Vegeta ,Ryu and Ashram :p So there…
Lain and Alice from Serial Experiment’s Lain
Ketario and Naru from Love Hina
I think Tetsuo and Kaneda have Brown Hair, Brown eye’s.
Forget the rest.
What about Tuxedo mask in sailor Moon?
Sorries, not much help huh…
Ranma-kun has blue hair, so it doesn’t count…And my sister has most of the Sailor Moon Manga, so if I remember well, Tuxedo Mask actually has blue eyes…
Gee, it’s been WAY TOO LONG since I’ve seen Akira…
And I thought Tetsuo had very dark blue hair…Gosh, I NEED to watch it again…it’s been too long I hardly remember about it …
Not forgetting Melfina (Outlaw Star). Doesn’t she have darkish brown eyes?
From my experience I would say most anime characters had blue eyes, hair is pretty much variable.
*Shrugs* Anyhoo, to answer your question I think blondes with light blue eyes look the best like Salor Moon for example ^_^
And Orphen – if I remember correctly, has black hait roo… right?I mean, they are Japanese, therefore…
Dang, I did not want to answer to this thread because I had nothing really to say, why did you have to mention Aoshi…? *sniffs* 😛
Whats the most common hair colour… Eh, I dont know, I mainly read mangas: black hair, white hair, grey hair.
Depending on what kind of manga it is, where it takes place (in the real world or not) I guess black hair/dark hair is most common…
I love white haired psycho bishies!
Ashton has green eyes, too. And Shinji, blue eyes. I need to check back on Ashitaka because I don’t really remember, but since I have the DVD it wouldn’t be hard…I do think he has brown eyes, however…
The only really cool character with brown hair and eyes in Lodoss I can think of would be Ashram…There’s also Woodchuck, and I believe Garrack as well but I have to check back on this one.
Anyway…
Aoshi and Sano have black hair in the manga(duh!) but they have brown hair in the anime. What about the two little girls? Or even Shisho? Or the guy that Sano admired? They all have brown hair and brown eyes.
Orphen for sure has brown hair. That I’m 100% positive. XD
Same for black-haired characters. Isnt there a pic from the anime where misao has kind of green hair? you still agree with me that she has black hair, right? God, their hair is black. Maybe varies a little, but. Black.

It’s really just for telling the characters apart. If they looked like real japanese people, you would have to put more work into each character to make them unique. In addition it makes it easier to sell spin-off products to children. Money-making is after all the main reason why anime exists.
A pure japanese guy having blue eyes ??? Strange indeed…
I’ve wondered the same thing about Shinji Ikari from Evangelion. He’s a Japanese kid and he’s got black hair, but his eyes are dark blue. Other than that, Eva characters tend to be realistic. (there are very few light-haired characters; one of them is German and with another it’s obvious she dyes her hair, because a flashback shows her with dark hair when she was younger. The only really weird-looking character is a blue-haired albino who is supposed to stand out as different from the others anyway.) So that just made Shinji’s eye color surprising to me.

Brown hair and brown eyes, that is like Spike on Cowboy Bebop he is supeer cool.
Personaly i like that combination. Brown hair and eyes means that they are somewhat normal. 🙂 But i also like the white/silver hair and dark-eye look on a guy! ^___^

Okay, a kind of cool brown haired guy is Setsuna Mudo from Angel Sanctuary. Brown hair, blue eyes I believe (?). He probably kind of sticks out in the beginning, since most others in Japan have black hair, but once he is surrounded by all kinds of weird angels, demons, and some other things/persons, he will seem quite normal with his short brown hair…
