Well, they were designed more after the Amano artworks than after the sprites. You know, Amano is the guy that traditionally does the Final Fantasy character design (expect for FF7,8,10). It�s just his style to draw thin, feminine characters with pale colors, white hair and an androgyne look all over…
Personally I agree with you that it would have been better if the cut scenes had been closer to the game graphics. The characters would look less alike. It would be cuter… after all, it is a very fun game. 🙂
Ahh… maybe anime cutscenes would have been best for this one.
