Well, if you guys know it or not… heck I didn’t until today, there is a hidden Minigame at the end of FFIX. It’s just an endless game of Blackjack as Square’s final Gift to the people showing that they can bend tradition around. Perhaps this is the sign that Square is bending around with tradition stuff. We saw this with Final Fantasy X when they said they were going to do a spin off of FFX.

But anyways, do you think this final prize was worth anything? Do you think it could of been replaced with something better or do you think it shouldn’t have existed and let the Final Fantasy Theme play forever and ever. o_O

(BTW: To get it. During the "The End’ screen after beating the game, press R2, L1, R2, R2, Up, X, Right, Circle, Down, Triangle, L2, R1, R2, L1, Square, Square. After hitting that, a confirm sound will play out and the minigame will appear.)

Yeah, I knew about it too, as they mentioned it at the end of the strategy guide. It’s fun, but a little pointless, other than to provide you with something to do after finishing the game (I normally just turn off the PSX and bask in my personal glory of finally finishing a game!). I would rather have liked a final FMV sequence after the end credits, like in FFVII and VIII. It just didn’t seem the same without that final ‘twist’ at the end ( I mean, who can forget the ‘Kimba the White Lion’ homage in the final seconds of FFVII?).

But still, Blackjack was a neat little addition that a lot of FFIX players probably missed out on without even realising it was there.

Today’s Classic FF Quote:

"Heh, I always heard you were, quite the crybaby!" Auron, testing Tidus’ commitment and resolve to being Yuna’s guardian, FFX.

First of all, it’s not a never edning game of blackjack; it does end. Plus, I don’t thing th blackjack game was the final prize. I think it was just a coll little thing to do at the end.

Ok, I thought the Blackjack game was a cool lil added touch…I’m just posting here to ask about this quote from Enkidoh:

"I mean, who can forget the ‘Kimba the White Lion’ homage in the final seconds of FFVII?)."

i didnt play the blackjack game, i didnt know it was there. but i reckon they probably put it in in a poor attempt to cover up the pathetic Necron final boss.
