I take a basic idea and write around it. Then I try to put what I’ve got in order and remove everything that isn’t absolutly essential. That’s why I usually end up with a very short poem 🙂 Not that it’s a bad thing. I think it can put more meaning into each word.

I also start with a basic idea, then write what I feel or what I think the person I’m writing about feels. I generally write all of my poems in order the first time. I usually just switch words around and add/remove things to give it a more powerful feeling. I try to make my poems interesting; something that some people could relate to. I try to imagine what someone would think if they read my poem. I try to make it simple too, but I still have to work on that. 😮
