Which is the most powerful magic in the game? (without ultima)

Hm.. Apocalypse? It does more damage than Ultima. For me, anyway o_O;

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">Yeah, Apocalypse is the most powerful magic, but the only time you can get that is during the final battle, and at that point there isn’t much point using it anyway.

If you’re fighting only one enemy, Meteor seems to cause more damage than Ultima. If there’s more than one enemy, Ultima wouild probably be better.

But for attacking, I don’t normally use magic at all. Just give yourself a good strength junction (if you get lots of Meteors or Auras put them there, Ultima is better but that can be saved for another stat). Use Meltodwn to reduce an enemy’s vitality to 0 if you still need to, then use physical attacks. That’s the easiest way of fighting that I know.

But anyway yeah, Apocalypse is the most powerful, but if you must use magic, stick with Ultima and Meteor for damage. Or use physical attacks. 😉

I agree with TeknoBlade. The End is the most powerfull magic in the game.Though u can only get it with Seplhie’s limit, u can get it for the pc version with an editor :uh?: .It instantly kills any opponent including bosses.

I would have to agree with TeknoBlade and Neo, The End ends all.. it even works against bosses and instant kill xD

But, its very hard to use this magic if you want to use it very often >_<

I agree that The End is the most powerful magic, but why is it so bloody difficult to get "the end"? I already decrease my HP to yellow and junctioned Luck to the hightest.

You can also use that *cough*GAMESHARK*cough* to junction The End to all of your characters.

I beat Ultimecia Final with The End.

The End is definitly the most powerful magic in the game. However, I find that I don’t like to use it (espically on bosses) because it makes it too easy to win.

I don’t think that there really is the *most powerful* magic, but there are a lot that can take the title. It just depends who you cast it on. I agree, Apocalypse is pretty hefty, but you can only get that at the end of the game, so it’s only useful on Ultimecia.

In all of the game FAQs and walkthroughs I’ve read, Ultima is a pretty good one. Meteor and Flare is also great, IMO.

I never really used The End a lot. It’s pretty powerful, but like Joeshie said…it makes it too easy.

How about Meltdown? It’s great junctioned to Vitality and it’s great to cast it on the tough enemies and just completely kill their defense and then just go at them.

The creator of the thread wanted the most powerful, and that would be The End since you can kill anything with it.

If she asked "Which one helped you the most?", then I would go for Pain, Ultima, Apocalypse, and Regen.

yes, but not only the effect of the spell, i mean its junctioning power, that makes your character more powerful, thus the spell is more powerful:o .

And, naturaly, could we even consider "the end" a spell? it is a limit break ability, in the PS very of the game, at least it can only be used with selphie, a limit break, i mean then could we consider renzekukan a spell? Because its a limit break of squalls, and only can be used as a limit break:o

It is a spell. You can junction it and equip it to different characters when using the GameShark, and all Selphie does is cast magic spells in her desperation.

Are Blizzaga and Full-Cure not considered spells because you can use them in your desperation moves?

Uh, that’s a straw argument, at least in the case of Blizzaga. Yes, you can use Blizzaga in your desperation moves, but it’s not like you can only use it in that way, as are the case with Full Cure and The End. (And I don’t count GameShark, that’s special case.)

Gameshark alters the original programming set by the designers of that game:o…when you play the game with game shark, it is altered, so technicly not the official game:o

I believe in the game ff8, not a personal altered game you have may altered with your software, you may NOT junction "the end"…:o…

Blizzaga is a spell, because you can use it as a spell, it can be used in your limit break, but you can also you it as a spell, thus it is a spell, Full cure is not a spell, it can only be used in her limit break:o

There are two things: physical skills and magical skills, or more commonly known as spells. If The End is not a physical skill, then it is a magical skill. Lionheart is a physical skill because Squall physically attacks the enemy, exerting his physical power onto the enemy to hurt them physically.

If the attack is not exerted onto the enemy physically, then it is exerted mentally, or more commonly known as magically. Does Full-Cure happen to use the caster’s physical strength? Is The End done when Selphie runs up and uses her strength and stamina to attack the enemy? How would you even physically The End on an enemy without causing more damage with one hit than they have HP? No, no, and you cannot.

That concludes why The End is a spell and not a physical skill.

Not neccisarily, since the started of this thread, said what is the most powerful magic, not spell (excluding ultima).
In the game, those are refered to as limit breaks, where as there is some specific "spells" that are called magic, like blizzaga and Ultima. But no where does it call "the end" magic, it is an option for a limit break. The point is, she asked what was the most powerful magic, if she meant to include limit breaks she should have woreded it differently, but with that wording, it is interperted that only magic, that can juntioned, that is trully magic, as it is called in the game, is to be included, you can not juntion "the end" in the original ff8, nor can it be used outside of selphies limit break, and no where is it called magic:O
