Okay, this is one of those rare times when I’m going to ask for help. No, please don’t be shocked, I have much to learn in FF games…..

So, where are the Dead Pepper Treasures located? I’ve found all of the ones in the mountains and the one near Quan’s Dwelling. Where are the others?

Also, I’m only on disc 3, but I have heard about one that I can only get in disc 4. What happens if I dig there? Do I find the treasure and the game freezes, or is there no mark at all?

A little more insight on the whereabouts of the exact locations would be nice. I used the GameFAQs one, but just telling me "it’s on the west" really doesn’t help. 😮

Alrighty, here are all the dead pepper locations and what you can find in each of the treasure chest.

Foaming Water Beneath Quan’s Dwelling:
9 Ore
15 Topaz
1 Tiger Racket
1 Red Rose Card

Foaming Water Directly North of Iifa Tree:
50 Potion
25 Hi-Potion
9 Ether
7 Elixir

Foaming Water Directly Between Mist Continent and Outer Continent:
8 Straw Hat
8 Pearl Armlet
7 Aloha T-shirt
8 Sandals

Foaming Water at South Tip of Forgotten Continent:
10 Remedy
1 Black Robe
1 Genji Gloves
1 Blue Narciss Card

Mountain Crack on Eastern Part of Lost Continent:
41 Lapis Lazuli
1 Rosetta Ring
1 Protect Ring
1 Airship Card

Mountain Crack on Northeastern Part of Forgotten Continent:
19 Eye Drops
1 Madain’s Ring
1 Genji Helmet
1 Hilda Garde 1 Card

Mountain Crack Near Oeilvert:
1 Maiden Prayer
1 Dragon’s Hair
1 Gauntlets
1 Odin Card

Exact Former Location of Shimmering Island:
10 Aquamarine
1 Ultima Weapon
1 Maximillian
1 Invincible Card

You can’t get that last one until later in the game, but I think that should be all the location of foaming waters and cracks. ^_^

Yeah, I used that guide too, and that’s where I’m lost.

One guide said that it was just west of the southeastern tip of the Forgotten Continent, another said that, and another said that it was just south of the lagoon on the Lost Continent. I tried all three locations but I couldn’t find it anywhere.

Is it just south of the southernmost islands, or south of the extreme southern tip of the continental Forgotten Continent?

Have you found all of them?

I believe the most correct is the southernmost tip description.

Anyway, if you ride Choco to the extreme southernmost point of Forgotten Continent (the screen needs to be blue again, instead of yellow), look on the western side you’ll see a hook- or c-shaped peninsula that curves to the west . There’s a little stip of water you can go into directly above it. The foaming water is right at the top of that little lagoon-ish area.

Hope this helps! 🙂

PS – Yep, I’ve gotten all the dead pepper treasures. 🙂

Yes I have found them all, you just have to look around a little bit and not expect them to just fall out of the sky right in front of your face.

It’s worth the time it takes to find them, but some may not be available until the 4th disc, so have patience my friend.

So it’s going to be around the Chocobo Lagoon?

Thanks kuro, I’ll check there.

I have the dead peppers, but what do they do anyways?

They go great with roasted Chocobo… 😉 Just kidding.

What you can do, when you’re riding Choco, go to your menu and you see an option to feed him a dead pepper. Depending on what you’re doing, choco will do one of the following:

If you’re in the ocean – Choco will dive into the ocean
If you’re flying – Choco will launch himself even higher into the air
If you’re on the ground – Choco will madly peck at the ground.

This is key to finding stuff like Mognet Central, Chocobo’s Paradise, and the Dead Pepper Treasures.
