I heard a rumor the other day that the Gamecube might be Nintendos last console.
Has anybody else heard anything about this.

No not really. I only know that before the GameCube Nintendo was working on project Dolphin which they canceled (reason unknown??) and then they started on the GameCube.

Well Dolphin was the Gamecube’s ‘secret’ title for it, but they changed it.

Dolphin is to Gamecube as Project Reality is to Nintendo 64.
Anyways, it’s somewhat fact… though the Gamecube may not be the last Nintendo system, they are sick of the hardware wars.

Yes, I’ve heard that rumor. I’ve also heard that Microsoft is going to buy Sega, that Square is making a game called "Chrono Break" for the Xbox, and that if you bang your head against the wall ten times and say "Ooka mooka" every time, a magic duck will appear and teach you how to turn plastic into meatloaf.
In other words… don’t believe everything you hear. It’s certainly possible since the industry is moving beyond the way that Nintendo wants to make games (read: good gameplay instead of a bunch of cinemas) but there’s no point in thinking about it until something concrete turns up. Play what exists now, worry about what will exist tomorrow when it actually does.
