Interesting…

Over the past few weeks I have experienced quite a few ‘weird’ glitches alot of which after completing the game at least 6 times I have not experienced before.

Before I tell you of these please note I don’t use any ‘gameshark’ or whatever you call it infact worse yet, I don’t even own one!

The First Glitch: (Quina and Cinna)

One day I was just about to enter Memoria and I was equiping Quina for the upcoming battles… I went into his weapon slot, but there were no weapons there… But one, The Hammer… I equiped the hammer and went into battle I saw Quinas name on the battle list but Quina wasn’t there! Cinna was there instead… I won the battle and pressed triangle to go into the menu in Quina’s place was a portrait of Cinna! I’m not sure on this but I don’t think you ever see a portrait of any of the Tantalus gang apart from Blank and Zidane! And now Cinna is a permenant party member! Though he still boats Quina’s name I used the Namingway Card to change all that.

The Second Glitch: (Marcus and Eiko)

One day I was just about to enter Memoria and I was equiping Eiko for the upcoming battles after I was done with her abilities I went onto her equipment but when I went into weapons there was a list of all of Steiners early swords! (Like broadsword)
I equiped her with one and then went into a random encounter. I saw Eikos name on the list but Marcus was in Eiko’s place! I won the battle and went into the menu there was a portrait of Marcus! I used the Namingway Card to change the name once again.

The Third Gltich: (Amarant and Blank)

The last ‘change of character’ glitch I encountered was with Amarant. Once again I was equiping him just before entering Memoria I went to his weapons and there was only a list of Steiner’s old swords i.e: Broadsword. I equiped him with a sword and went into a random enqounter and to my surprise it was not Amarant I saw but Blank (One of my favourite characters 😀 )
I won the battle and went into the menu and Blank’s portrait was there aswell! I went and changed his name to Blank and now he’s Blank with Amarant’s skills!!

The Fourth (And Last) Glitch: (Beatrix)

Now I know alot of people get Beatrix using gameshark but I got her another was by glitch lol. Anyway I was playing along ahppily in the part of Alexandria castle that you get Beatrix and I had just done it when who come in but the little brother to torment me!
He runs up and opens up the playstation I quickly shut it and open up my character scree to check if anything happened. Suddenly Beatrix was in there with her name skills and level!!!!
My bro ran away and I had a new Beatrix!

Wow, I wish you could do that. But I’m not sure because for one, you are equipping weapons to characters that cant use those weapons. And I dont think anyone can equip the Hammer. But that would be cool. Now I must go try it out.

Yeah your points are exactly right. I dont know how I could equip the characters with them but I recently found out that cinna and quina use the same data as each other same with amarant/blank and marcus/eiko so it must have something to do with that…

Yeh, it may be possible, but all 4 other playable characters gained by one person only out of the 1,600 people on the forums seems like a load of BS soz. how bout a screen shot ?

I dont have a digital camera but i do have a scanner ill try and get one for youse plus this is NOT a rumor! Im telling the truth I hate rumors to.

I think it would be cool if it did work, but, uh, it sounds very unlikely. Also if youve ever use a cheat cartridge and saved the game then things like this can happen easily.

Hmm, sounds like an overheated Playstation again. I’ve had weird things happen to me while playing FF games on a faulty PSX (it freezes half the time and overheats very easily). Although I’ve never had anything like that happen to me, some strange things have occured nothenless. Case 1: One day I started a new game of FFVII during one of Australia’s hot summer days (it was about 35 degrees celsius outside if my memory is right). Got to the Guard Scorpion in the No 1 Reactor. Destroyed it, no problems. Then, instead of the EXP and AP gained screen , the screen twirled inwards and, lo and behold , there was the Guard Scorpion battle, all over again! Naturally a little pissed off, I turned off the PSX and let it cool for a while before playing it again. Next time there was no problems.

Case 2: Playing FFIX one day on disc 4, I was cruising around in the Invincible, and landed the airship on the ledge near the forest over the hidden entrance to Gizmaluke’s Grotto, as I felt in the mood for some Grand Dragon slaying. As Zidane stepped out of the airship, the screen went a bit glitchy, the camera viewpoint suddenly altered, and, what appears on the rocky mountainside just below me? My gold chocobo, whose real current location was far away on the Outer Continent! The frame rate skipped a little, but after a few seconds I managed to take a few steps towards the chocobo, before the game crashed. At other odd times, the game (particulary battles) have run slowly, and menu screens/text boxes have broken up or glithced, as a result of overheating. Now that I have a PS2, which has a cooling fan, it should eliminate the problem, but wether this is what happened to you Gamma Sephiroth I don’t know. Maybe we never will.

If this is all true then its quite interesting…mainly because of the fact that you say Quinas portrait was replaced by Cinnas.

Now, if theres a portrait in the coding of the game then perhaps theres some secret way to play as Cinna. Either that or there was going to be but they took it out except for the portrait. Interesting….

…thats if this is not all a big hoax.

i am skeptical as well, but why would he make something like this up??? give us some proof and we’ll believe you….also if it is true, atleast you know it is, you dont need us to believe you…:D

Maybe it’s actually a ‘hacked’ copy of FFIX, rather than the offical version. Yes. I know you can tell the difference between an official game and a CDR copy (the real disc is black), but what many people don’t realise, is that you can get black CDRs. They’re just not avaliable in most computer stores. Now, I don’t condone piracy; it hurts the publishers and would eventually put off smaller developers from creating games, but, this glitch reminded me of something that happened with my mate’s copy of FFVIII. He bought it from a pawnbroker, and when he inspected it, it LOOKED legitimate, so he assumed it was a genuine. It was only until he actually played it that something didn’t seem to add up. The only rule in the Triple Triad mini-game was ‘All’, no matter where you were and who your opponent was. He couldn’t believe it and asked me how this was possible. At first I was skeptical, but when my brother told me about black CDRs my skeptiscm turned to suspicion. His ‘official’ copy of FFVIII, is most likely a hacked ROM off the net that’s been burnt onto a black CDR and uses a real cover. So, I think this might be the cause behind your weird glitch Gamma Sephiroth.

^ yea true, but he said this started to happen after the 5 or 6 time he beat and replayed it… so i can see the glitches theory…the game cant take being played over and over so soon…:D ……..but im not doubting your theory either…..;)
