I want Cloud!

I was just wondering when and where do i get the opportunity to have Cloud join my squad? Just tell me the city and how far into the game it is. Try not to tell me anything about the story.

You find him in Zarghidas, late Ch. 4. You must go to Goug first, then go to Goland, read the rumor about the Ghost in the Coillery, go to Lesalie to pick up a character (won’t tell you who tho), then go back to Goland. A series of fights will ensue, after this, go back to goug, then go to Nelveska temple. Also, be sure to buy a flower from the flower girl in Zarghidas. After Nelveska temple, go back to goug. Cloud will appear, but he will leave. You find him in Zarghidas. His materia blade can be found at the top of Bervenia Volcano using the move-find ability.

Sorry if this does spoil something…but you can NOT get Cloud if you do not buy a flower for 1 gil earlier in the game from the ‘flower girl’.

Does this girl come up to you or do you have to find her or what?

She’ll come up to you.

Another thing you absolutely NEED to have to get Cloud: Mustadio.

Before doing the following steps, do the following:

1. Have Mustadio in your Party
2. Buy a flower from Aeris (Aerith, whatever!)
3. Listen to the rumor of "Cursed Island, Nelveska" in Zeltennia Castle’s bar
4. Have 4 spaces in your party
5. You must be in Chapter 4.

Step 1: Go to Goug Machine City and you will see a scene where Besrodio found a steel ball.
Step 2: Go to Goland Coal City and listen to the rumor "Ghost of Colliery" and then go to Lesalia, directly top of Goland.
Step 3: Agree with Beowulf to join your party. Now Goland will become a red dot. Go there to fight a string of four battles.

Colliery Underground Third Floor
Enemy Squad: Chemist x5

Well, all of the chemists here have Mythril Guns. So, just make sure they don’t revive and heal their allies.

Colliery Underground Second Floor
Enemy Squad: Chemist x1 Thief x2 King Behemoth x1 Behemoth x1

The chemist here is equipped with the Blaze Gun (shooting out Ice bullets ranging from Ice to Ice 3) so if you have Steal Weapon available, steal it from him. The thieves will try charming your female characters. Kill them and the behemoths won’t be much of a problem (although they can add an instant death).

Colliery Underground First Floor
Enemy Squad: Chemist x2 Blue Dragon x2 Uribo x1

Invite the Uribo if you want. The Blue Dragons are a problem here, so kill them first. The chemists should be next (they can use Phoenix Downs and X Potions).

Underground Passage in Goland
Enemy Squad: Archaic Demon x1 Plague x3 Ochu x2

The Holy Dragon Reis can take out most of the enemies here with Ice Bracelet (Plagues and Ochus are weak against Ice, so Blaze Guns are extremely useful here). Kill Sinogue quickly! He can use Giga Flare on Reis. Once you take care of him, the rest will be easy. Now you have to have Beowulf and Reis in your party.

Step 4: Go back to Goug and you will activate the robot, Worker 8. Agree him into your party and then go to Nelveska Temple to fight Worker 7. (Before going to the next battle, you have to face Elmdor in Limberry Castle.)

Nelveska Temple
Enemy Squad: Worker 7 (Steel Giant) Cocatoris x3 Hyudra x2

Worker 7 is strong, so bring Agrias, Worker 8, Orlandu, and a Red Dragon with you. Oh, on top of the pillars are the ultimate Escutcheon (Physical 75% and Magic 50%) and the Javelin (30 attack power). To get on top of the pillars have a big monster (Worker 8, Dragons, Tiamats, Behemoths, or Morbols) park next to the pillar and then use your Move Find Itemer get up there (s/he must have low brave and jump of 4). Worker 7 is weak against non-faith based lightning, so Tiamats and Red Dragons are good. After this battle, Reis will transform into her human form.

Step 5: Go back to Goug and activate the machine. Cloud will appear and go to Zarghidas Trade. Follow him and you will be in a battle to protect the Soldier. BUT, before doing this, you have to proceed to the story and kill Dycedarg in Igros and his Zodiac Form, Adramelk!

Enemy Squad: Monk x1 Squire x2 Thief x3

Easy battle! But Cloud is at level one.

Step 6: Go to Bervenia Volcano, which appears at the start of Chapter 4 and then have your move find itemer go on the top of the volcano to get Cloud’s Materia Blade. I don’t think your Move Find itemer needs to have a low brave.
