Metal Gear Solid 2 – What do you all think?

Now that it’s been out for some time, almost every PS2 owner has atleast tried it. Taking that into consideration, I want to know what you all thought of the game. I personally loved it, though I’m new to the series, the story was considerably deep and refered to the earlier games on a regular occasion. Also, I’m hearing a lot of Raiden bashing… why? What do you guys think of Raiden as a character and if he should succeed Snake?

On the Raiden topic, I believe he was cool. He was somewhat stereotypical in more ways than one, but he had a realistic personality and he grows a lot from the naive teen (?) you start off as. He has a deep and dark past and a tormented soul. If there’s one downside to his character, it’s his high maintenance girlfriend who won’t stop being so touchy feely and distracting while you’re trying to save the country… jeez.

Well…

I thought MGS2 was muy excellente. The story was VERY deep… and actually made me think a lot, other than FFX, which didn’t make me think AS much. MGS2 is fun to play… you need to develop strategy, and figure out problems and such.

Well… it was an arm rip when you play as Raiden most of the game… it’s a bullet through the head, arms, legs, and groin to find out that MGSX is going to be released on the X-Box… with Snake’s POV of the Plant Mission.

WHAT??? YOU COUL BE SNAKE IN THE PLANT MISSION IN THE X-BOX VERSION???? (Sometimes it’s a good thing to lie… because not lying at some situations is a sin)

MGS2 is a good game. But it gets VERY boring the second or third time around… I mean, it’s a good game and such but there’s not so much to do and there’s not so many weapons, esspecially for Snake. You have to play through half the tanker to get a gun that could kill and by then you won’t need it much… Plus the storyline got very confusing esspecially at the end where they go on and on and you just get bored w/ it. Plus Raiden does seem very girly-like and I hate to be him and everyone as to go throug everything again like how to crawl and stuff and it gets boring there… Plus he acts like an idiot… Also Rose is a little dumb. For crying out loud, stop talking and tell me what tomorrow is!!! Geez… She goes on and on about Raiden’s life and I just want her to shut up. Plus if you don’t save often, she actually calls you to save… sheesh and if you don’t save, she just still talks…

Yea it was a really good game. Fun and all, I definitallly enjoyed it alot. It might be kinda boreing on the second time through.

So what the XBOX sucks

my thoughts about MGS2… it is simply exellent in anyways!! Its fun, it makes ya think, gameplay, music, graphics…. everything!

Great game. Great graphics, great story. If theres one problem with it its that I couldnt be Snake more.

And dont let anyone spoil the story for you if you havent played it. Its amazing.

Heh, Nanaki, I don’t think any single person could even begin to explain the entire story except for Hideo Kojima himself. @_@ Anyway, I beat the game a second time after I unlocked the Extreme difficulty… it was hard, but I loved it. And I have the unlimited ammo feature now so… huzzah! ^_^

Okay, I’ll lie.

You can’t play as Snake in the Plant Mission in the X-Box version, despite what I said earlier… X-Box is the best system ever and the Shrine is going to go down to be replaced as a Hentai Center.

A splendid game however far too easy. I completed it the first time i played it, non stop on hard. Tee hee, it was fun, it took me about 11 hours but it was worth, the shortest day of my life 😀

Do you know what the problem is with MGS 2?

After you have finshed it you will have to go back and play other games that will no where life up to the standard of MGS 2 🙁
and now its a pity there will be no more MGS games now.

MGS 2 thow is IMO the best game ever made its got everything graphics,music,story alot of ppl don’t like this game because you can;’t play as snake all the time i must admit when i heard about this i was upset but when u play as raiden i think he adds to the stroy massavly i think that XBOX version is not gonna change my opinion i will not rush out and buy due to these changes

MGS2 was a fantastic game and should’nt be changed

I won’t get an X-Box just to play Snake’s Mission (Man… from what I heard, I was both happy and sad at the same time…)

Finally a real fight with Ocelot, the return of Natasha, getting to shoot Raiden cause you hate him!

But still…. I won’t get an X-Box… though I could steal one…. but thats a no-no =P

So Snake is playable in the Plant in the X Box Version, this time don’t lie cause I got confused…

I thought MGS2 was amazing. The graphics, weapons, storyline, everything. My only complaint was that I thought it could have been so much longer. Even though its still a long game, it ended kinda suddenly, maybe leaving it open to a sequel or whatever. My point is there could easily have been another disc. I thought the last boss fight was kinda poor aswell.

I was hoping to fight Arsenal Gear, in a RAY or something. That would’ve been sweet!
