How many of you have heard about needing a high speed internet connection, teh Broadband Ethernet Adapter, and probably even paying a monthly fee to play this excellent game. How many of you are going to be able to pay for all of this? I am starting to save up my money now so that when it comes out I’ll be able to afford all of the expenses.

You don’t have to have broadband to use the broadband connector that is rumored to accompany the harddrive. Call a competent IT pro, and he can set you up straight through a phoneline. That should save you some greens.
Personally, I’m just gonna use my phoneline to play FFXI. Screw Cable and DSL.:D

I have heard some people say if you know what your doing you can hook a USB cable from your ps2 to the PC and network it to work with your cable modem or whatever internet you have. Assumeing it works you would have the have your ps2 close to your PC.

a regular 56k modem is going to work, but people like me who has crappy phone lines might have trouble. I use a cable modem so I don’t deal with it anymore, but when I had dial up I could only get a 26.4k connect MAX. The phone lines are so old in thsi area they can’t do any better. Everybody around here has that problem.

I know I have alot of lag when I play Dreamcast games on-line.

I don’t liek the sound of the paying, but i have 56k modem, but remember this is not a sure thing to be paying for it, I hope not. By then my money would go straight into my game.

Recent developements and sources state that the Final Fantasy series is going to be available on a multi-platform scale. Which means that in the near future, GameCube and Xbox along with some handhelds are going to be carrying the title of various Final Fantasy series as well. This is purturbing.

Wouldn’t most of us agree that we’re not too keen on the idea? I mean, the whole passion behind Final Fantasy is that the series itself is undeniably, the best RPG ever. Now, take into account all the exploitation and new levels of experimentation, and doesn’t anyone think it’s losing it’s exclusivness? Granted, I want people to be able to expierience Final Fantasy on all levels, and with the amount of technology that we have today it’s no wonder SquareSoft is taking the series to new horizons…

There’s room for concern. See, Final Fantasy XI will be an online based RPG with probable costs associated with online usage. Does EVERYONE have the internet? No. Believe it or not, everyone does not have the internet. Now, rumors say that they’ll be charging a monthly fee of an estimate 10 bucks for access being that there are contracts involved. Think about this for a minute… If you get a one year contract for ten dollars a month, you’d be paying about 120 dollars a month to play Final Fantasy XI online! Not to mention the additional cost for online access. The game itself would be estimated at a cost of 50 to 60, rumors have it even at 73 dollars… Does this all seem like a huge money making line or what?

Take into account loyal fans of the Final Fantasy series. Take into account the art, the characters, the storyline… Read the articles… I fear the value of Final Fantasy will dissipate in the midst of all this marketing smut.

I’d like to know what you think… I’m having difficulty accepting the new changes.
