btw: I think FF5, FF6 and FFT
deserves to be added to the poll…
Actually Parasite Eve 1 was ok, but the 2nd one was just too damn hard to control.
So I’m not gonna vote…heh heh heh…
I tend to prefer the older games and you only seem to have newer titles on the list. My personal favorite Square game is FFVI…guess I’m just too old for these things…
Anyways my vote is FFX
I played FFT instead, and now that I’m occupied with FFX, XG is on the waiting list again ;).
Anyways, my vote goes to Vagrant Story. I would normally choose FFVII, which I’ve hailed as GREATEST, MOST ULTIMATEST RPG OFF AL TIME W00T!!! for several years straight, but trying to play the game recently (a couple months ago, pre-FFT and FFX) to feed my nostalgia demon, I realized that I don’t feel the same way about the game anymore.
Playing other, more diverse RPGs, as well as the effect of time on my memory/interests have made me see things differently, not just in FFVII, but rather all the RPG titles sitting around in my living room.
Vagrant Story is one of the most mature RPGs available now, if not the most, especially in terms of plot. For once, your brain is exercised during the story-telling process. In order to understand what is going on, and what exactly your purpose is takes having to put thought into things like the history of the setting locale, character motives, actions, etc.
In fact, most of the game’s dimensions are similarly intricate, taking alot of effort to comprehend, and thus it came to be that VS is just one of those titles people either adore or despise.
People either praise it for its merits in character and weapon customization, and the satisfaction it brings, or shun it because reaping rewards is too time-consuming, or simply because they don’t understand how.
There’s the downside. Some people, sometimes with good reason don’t enjoy having to spend hours doing things like customizing a single weapon to prove it useful against one specific enemy class. The up-side to this is that those who can endure, and those who enjoy find a great deal of pleasure in it, and strong incentive to replay the game over and over.
The FF series, along with other mainstream RPGs, despite their innovate aspects do not offer that level of depth.
The use of simplified middle-English dialogue and clever wording, coupled with the fact that spelling and grammatical errors in the text are non-existent, makes reading fun. (<font size="1">Yes plz, I’m a geek giv me cookie now kthx.</font>)
I’d type more, but then, I really hate typing, which makes my presence here quesitonable… =o So..yeah, i leik vagrant story and i thing taht if u dont u sux! hehe j/k lolololololololol!!111
even though i love FFVI……
FF8 is TOO complex for most gamers!
FF7 is alright.
FFT is alright.
FF6 is the best i’d say.
CC is a bit ridiculous but its good
CT has no good battle themes
BB is good
So i’d say FF6, FFT & FF7

i voted for 7, because its the one that generally opened the door for all the rpgs that im playing today, it was just a wonderful experience
People actually liked that Vagrant Story? I got that game and found it to be the worst game they ever made. It was worse then the Parasite Eve Series I thought.
I must say I feel very sorry for you. You missed out on the greatest story in any game, ever. Dark Leviathan summed it up. Vagrant Story is my favourite Squaresoft game of all time., surpassing all the Final Fantasy and Chrono games.
