While I don’t own one nor plan to own one, the Xbox would be a better system for it since it already has a MODEM and Hard Drive on it. All in all the Xbox is better then the Ps2, but the games on it for the most part suck. They put too many Sports games on it I think. But anyways that is getting a bit off topic.
Being it is on-line Sony might allow it to be released to other platforms, but I don’t know. I also heard ff11 was going to be on PC as well so it might end up on Xbox.
If they charge for ff11 per month (which more then likely they will) it might be hosted on a Server owned by Sony(much Like Everquest is). In that case reguardless of what system you own Sony would be making 10 bucks per month (or whatever the fee is). If that is the case it might be released on other systems so more people are paying that monthly fee? This is all assumeing Sony owns the Server that is used to play it.
BTW: its squaresofts play online server that will be hosting FFXI
Personally, I think FF should stay on the PS(s). It’s one of the major advantages these systems have over their competitors.
Id say Square will keep them on Sony Systems, but they might at some point released them on different systems as well.
Hironobu Sakaguchi confirms rumors that Final Fantasy XI will indeed see a multi-platform release, ending four years of Square-Sony exclusivity. The game will still be released first for the PlayStation2 and PC, so don’t expect other consoles to have the title right away. This still comes as great news to anyone planning on picking other systems than the PlayStation2.
hope that helps.
It will be put on GC if and only if there is a ff13 and ff1 and 12 are successes:eye:
FF11 isn’t going to be on the XBox because square has a contract on ff11 and 12 but square is thinking about putting ff13 on GC
It will be put on GC if and only if there is a ff13 and ff1 and 12 are successes:eye:
yeah…that made no sense at all.
anyway, what i have herd was that both PS2 AND xbox would have FF11. But then again sony has bought a 20% share in squaresoft so it may very well false…

"Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of Final Fantasy, restates the previous plans for Final Fantasy XI ‘s multi-console capabilities. His thoughts on this have been recorded in a Los Angeles Times article regarding Squaresoft’s plans to release FFXI on multiple systems. This has been the first time that Squaresoft has ever mentioned plans for games for Nintendo in the near future.
Sakaguchi mentioned to the press that it is "certainly a possibility" that the fully online game, Final Fantasy XI, will be released on the Nintendo GameCube and Microsoft XBox. As the interview went on, Sakaguchi mentioned that he is very excited about Nintendo’s new console. He stated that as Squaresoft is moving onto online games, it is essential that you equip the game on many different consoles for it to sell well.
The releases of Final Fantasy XI for PS2 and PC are confirmed and its XBox release will come from Microsoft. It is also safe to say that there is enough information to confirm that FFXI will be coming to GameCube as well."
There.
