No it isn’t true, because you’ll see a FMV at the ending, showing he isn’t dead. Just finish the game if you dun believe me. Rinoa goes outside and after a while You’ll see Rinoa and Squall doing stuff ^_^
and I’m absolutly sure about this since I completed the game and watched the end for about 7 or 8 times o_o
