This is a stunning modernistic score. So intriguing to think of what 2001 would be with this instead of Kubrick’s cherished ‘temp score’. It would be a lot less ironical in tone that’s for sure – but then it wouldn’t be Kubrick!! North’s score works better as a listening experience on its own anyway. A great companion piece to a great film. One of my favourite cds 🙂 As matter of fact I could upload a lossless version if anyone’s interested..

Some of North’s cues are similar to what was eventually used, so I guess Kubrick approached him to mimic his temp tracks, but ultimately decided to just use the original source instead.
