I have no idea how many times this thread has been done but I'm new here and I wanna know... :D
1. Who was in your normal party?
2. worst characters?
3. best and worst overdrives/ abilities
For me....

1. Wakka, Rikku and Lulu, who was switching with Yuna.
I didn't really care who was the best at what, because I just used a teleport sphere to create my ultimate party :D In fact, by the end of it Wakka and Rikku had max stats, Lulu wasn't far behind (without cheating or doing that 'cactaur king thing' XD). I always thought they were the coolest characters :)

2. Tidus, Auron and Kimahri.
I know, I know... Tidus and Auron are the 'strongest' characters, but I didn't like them as much as the others so I didn't use them :) Tidus was my weakest, when I was up to 200 hours on the game he only had about 2000 hp. Auron was around 3000 hp and Kimahri was about 5500 hp. I only used Kimahri out of pity ;)

3. The worst overdrive was lancet. Full STOP. And most of the abilities like 'dark attack' were all useless, because you either killed your enemies first shot or they were immune. Only Rikku's abilities/ skills were useful. I mean, besides the magic stuff.

What about you? XD :kirbywalk:

I used everyone to get them some sphere levels and advance them in the grid. In reality though by the end I was probably using Wakka, Rikku and Tidus the most.

Lulu becomes the most useless as soon as Yuna can learn some black magic, because she already has a much higher magic stat by that point. On the expert grid it's easy to take a small detour to get the mid-level black magic spells and get back on the white magic route. Lulu's also really slow at attacking, so once you've started maxing out the sphere grid for everyone making them all fairly similar, she's just really boring to use. I didn't use Auron much at the end either because of the way the damage works on his celestial weapon.

Best overdrives are Wakka's Attack Reels and Rikku's Mix. Don't even think there's a debate here - the first one does the most damage in a single turn, and the second gives you access to a lot of useful stuff. Most of Kimahri's were pretty bad I agree although I can think of a few times Mighty Guard came in useful.

Once you get Auron, I think I pretty much always used him, Tidus, and then either Lulu or Yuna, based on whether I needed to damage the enemy or heal characters. I never really used Rikku or Kimahri all that much. Wakka was pretty useful as a substitute for Auron, but by the middle of the game, a lot more enemies have status immunity, so he's kind of negated.

Once I started getting the celestial weapons and started getting characters into other parts of the sphere grid (basically, once you're free to roam the world), I always got Yuna's Nirvana first, and once she got into other people's sections, she completely dominated. She was Overkilling fiends in the Omega Ruins in 1 hit while other characters couldn't even break the 9999 damage limit.

But by the very end of the game, my party is basically Wakka, Lulu, and Yuna, mostly because Attack Reels does the single most amount of damage, and Lulu's and Yuna's celestial weapons do higher damage when they have higher MP. And since they have 1 MP Cost on their celestial weapons, that means that their MP goes down way slower than anybody else's, so they're more likely to hit for higher damage most of the time. I forget how it works with the other specific party members, but I'm pretty sure that Tidus's, Wakka's, and Kimahri's celestial weapons do more damage when they have higher HP, so they're more likely to do less damage when you have some hard-hitting enemies (like at the Battle Arena). The only exception is when I'm inside Sin in the River of Sorrow, I always have Auron out because he can always go first, which is especially useful when encountering Great Malboros.

In terms of Overdrives, Wakka's is certainly the best. Personally, I don't like to waste items, although I'm sure there are some awesomely useful combinations made with Mix. Also, I could never remember which combinations did what, so I refrained from using Rikku's Overdrive. I also like Yuna's Overdrive, especially in the middle of the game when you could summon Valefor or Bahamut and have them do their overdrives twice in a row. That helps out a lot for some difficult boss fights. Tidus's and Auron's Overdrives are okay...I think they can be useful in the middle of the game, but once Wakka gets attack reels, he does the most amount of damage. I'd also Lulu's Fury is pretty useless, although I suppose Drain Fury and Osmose Fury can be pretty effective. Kimahri's is just plain shit. I don't think I ever really used his overdrives, except maybe self-destruct, lol.

If you use the advanced sphere grid, the characters themselves don't matter very much -- you could easily make Auron the black mage or Lulu the physical attacker if you wanted. Obviously Yuna is the summoner of the group and thus is unique in this regard. So it's a good idea to have her decently levelled. Having said all of that, I actually haven't used the advanced sphere grid myself. I intend to play the game again at least once before the remake is released, so I probably will then.

My party the last time I played was Auron, Wakka and Yuna. I also interchanged Yuna with Lulu whenever I needed Black Magic, which is a requirement for some bosses. I'd say my worse character was Kimahri, chiefly because his overdrive is practically useless early in the game. I had a similar problem with Rikku; looking up the combinations every time I used her overdrive was rather annoying. Also, I seldom had to pilfer from fiends.

The character with the best overdrive is undoubtedly Wakka, as Olde said. Tidus and Auron's overdrives are good, but Wakka's just dwarf them in terms of power. However, I can be quite maladriot at times, so I mucked up the timing occasionally. Grand summon is also an extremely useful overdrive, especially in the later stages of the game when you obtain Bahamut.

I used Tidus, because he was the main storyline charecter, Yuna, because she could summon, and Wakka after I maxed everyone out. I suppose Tidus, Yuna, Lulu, and Wakka were my best charecters. I never use Kamarhi because I just really dislike him. I used Rikku only when I needed to use/steal somthing until I had Tidus.

As for overdrives I agree with what was said above with Wakka and all...

man because of the ease of changing party members in battle, I just kept changing lol
though my favorite is still Yuna, though it's mostly more of her Aeons than Yuna herself

Usually have Tidus because it's just habit from older RPGs to have the main character in your party, Auron because he's just awesome and can use all his Breaks, and Wakka because he can also be a powerhouse.

I felt magic really got pushed to the back burner in this game, especially since with the sphere grid you can make anybody adept at magic, or at least enough to use it for whatever reason. I'd also throw in Yuna here and there just for the aeons.

Same as me, and i agree on magic topic.

I used tidus, wakka and auron so much, that i had them way ahead of everybody else, and had to force myself to use the others.I rarely ever even used summons in regular fights aside from boss fights and arena.Magic felt gimmicky, because they force you to use it to win sometimes, like with killing those damned mega slimes in arena, and weren't even hard, just slow and tedious.

My party consisted of Tidus, Wakka, and Yuna most the times and Auron, Lulu, and Kimarhi other times.

Wakka's ultimate weapon is possibly the best weapon in the game (in my opinion) with counter, magic counter, evade, and (i think) break dmg limit so once I got his and Tidus's ultimate weapons I was pretty set...

Yuna I kept in party just because she's the white mage-esque style character (and summoner) and it's just a tradition from the older games to always have a white mage in the party.

i think my squad usually consisted as Tidus, Lulu and either Wakka or Kimahri. i always thought Kimahri was kinda cool lol

obviously i trained all my characters up thinking that they could pull a FF VIII and have the last boss randomly pick which characters you could use and disable the switch option lol

1. Tidus, Lulu and Yuna ( I love summoning special creatures who destroy everything in games xD)
2. Wakka and sometimes Rikku

I always used Kimahri in the beginning since he could get steal/use first, and by the end I think my party was pretty much Rikku, Yuna, and Auron, occasionally Lulu. I had customized armor with Auto Haste/Protect/Shell/Regen(but I wouldn't add Auto-Regen til after the fight with Yunalesca). My other customized armor was proof against Confuse/Poison/Stone/Silence. Rikku had higher agility naturally, so with her stats high, Quick Hit and her celestial weapon were very useful. Yuna/Lulu were the natural magic users, I'd have them double casting flare/ultima with their celestial weapons. Of course they could fight too, I beefed up their strength. I have never gotten Wakka's celestial weapon sigil yet, so never had it at full strength.

My party? A fifth of scotch, a line or two, and some drunken table dancing. Nothing too fancy.

Since you always have the 7 characters on hand 95% of the game, it didn't make much of a difference to me who was on the field and who was on the bench. So I followed the knockout-switch basis of gameplay. As soon as Rikku joins the party indefinitely Tidus, Auron, and Rikku would be set to front lines and as one dies, they would be revived, and then replaced with a character that we met in the game chronologically. The next to go would be - Wakka, Lulu, Kimahri, Yuna in that order. Fighting bombs is a pain without Lulu lol. And you can imagine the 2 characters that have Yuna alongside them being the luckiest ones. Sometimes Yuna stays on the field far too long while poor Rikku gets taken out far too often. I really enjoy using Rikku's overdrives though. Kimarhi is my second favorite character and he does have the weakest overdrives sadly.

Wakka is by far the best character in the game.
