Thank you for this release. There were more electronics in the score than i was initially expecting, but a fine effort. My only complaint with the album is the crazy track titles. I wish when possible they could have kept the track names of the original album. A Walk In The Woods was one of my favorite tracks and i did find it as Lions.....Tigers.... Sadly that orchestral track was not that good compared to the original. Anyone manage to have a comparison list of the original album to this re-recording?

hmm the first cd is really good, cant say the same about the second one. A good effort overall, but I was expecting something way better. I like the legends version of halo music much better.

Just throwing my 2 cents in I downloaded the larger file size (mostly to see if maybe he just posted the wrong bitrate, which wasn't the case) and there was nothing "malicious" about the files. It was just front and back covers and the mp3s. I can't explain why the files would be different sizes at the same bitrate (maybe it's not a reup of the same file?) but it's no good to say it's malicious intent without inspecting the file yourself.

I really have loved the halo music. I am sorry but to be this was an utterly terrible remake of the original music. Legends used a full orchestra and did a 10x better job than this. This really seems like it was a rushed job. I really don't get why it ended up so poorly but needless to say i was truly disappointed. There were two tracks that were done decent enough but as a whole this was just bad.

I can explain why the file sizes could be different. Not every program uses the exact same algorithms to encode MP3 files. I'm sure using iTunes to rip the disc in MP3 160, and using LAME (http://lame.sourceforge.net/) to rip it in 160 would yield (minor) file size differences. On top of that, how well was is compressed into an archive? Same principles. Using the same settings in both WinRAR, WinZip, and 7-Zip will probably give you each a different file size.

advice : you can rip the cd in wav and convert it into various formats with Xrecode II (Convert flac to mp3, flac to wav, ape to mp3, cue to mp3, flac to alac, flac to m4a, flv to mp3 and more. (http://xrecode.com/) , i think it's the best free/shareware encoder i've used) best setting for mp3 "V0" or "B320" othec best format : Flac

As I stated I downloaded it and there was nothing different. His was obviously from a different source and not a re-up of yours. And someone above did clearly explain how there could be a 10 MB difference with the same files at the same bitrate.
It's just not nice to go slinging mud without getting the facts is all I'm trying to say.

Thanks for the share. I was just listening to the original OST a few days ago and this version really breathes life into a real classic.

During the holiday break I decided that I wanted to create a Halo vs Halo album that combines the original Halo 2001 tracks with their 2011 counterparts.

Since the album producers decided not to retain the original track names, I had to identify which was which and use YouTube suggestions as a reference. I was especially excited when I found out that if you combine the music from BOTH the 2011 and 2001 albums, it fits nicely onto two cds (I think its about 153 minutes total). Below is my comparison list between the 2011 and 2001 tracks.

The first number is the track number from the 2011 album. The title from the 2011 follows and after the -> is the track and title from the 2001 album. I'd be curious how close i got to an approved comparison and if anyone can offer suggestions, comments, I'd like to hear them. You will notice that some tracks I have doubts where the music was placed, so hardcore Halo players can provide some feedback.
