Really, Ubisoft? Either you're fucking some people over with the AE edition, or you're just becoming super lazy. I'll go with the former, for now.

I dedicate this upload to WildwoodPark.

Okay, so it's more like a "Best Of" Soundtrack. That's a bit dodgy... BUT, benefit of the doubt to Ubisoft because they're uploading the COMPELTE recordings to iTunes on Tuesday, so I am more than happy to wait until then! Thanks for the upload.

Righto, since this isn't really an OST from Revelations, I've whipped up a different cover to use for my iTunes, figured I'd share it... welcome to use, guys:

Biggs v.2

...I agree, I'm also thinking that's why they're releasing a 3 DISK iTunes version, to compensate for the fact they bundled a "best of" into these Animus Editions.

DerDarkKnight

I think they should've titled it Best Of Album right away. They clearly didn't want to tell the fans that this would only be music from the previous titles. If you check out their official unboxing videos again there it says "Best game Soundtrack"... yeah right. They can't say they promised anything else... still this feels a little bit like a cheat to me anyway.
Nontheless I'm ever so excited to get my hands on the original soundtrack of Revelations 'cuz from what has been sampled so far this sounds like it might be the best OST in the series!

There's no point in deleting it. While it may not be what we were all expecting, it is indeed the soundtrack that came with the Animus Edition of Assassin's Creed: Revelations.

Bit of an average 'bonus' for getting the Animus edition or the collectors edition for that matter. Hope that encyclopedia is half-decent otherwise what a rip-off! Good news is the THREE DISK (woo-hoo again) complete soundtrack is only 3 days away on iTunes. Not long to wait...

OKAY

I've done a bit of research, because this whole soundtrack thing seemed a bit fishy, Ubisoft are pretty decent, outside of their shitty DRM for PC gamers. Turns out this soundtrack was an exclusive to AMAZON.com customers, who pre-ordered their edition of AC:R via Amazon. If you did, you got a bonus "Best Of" Assassin's Creed Soundtrack. Here's the quote from the page below:

Exclusive Bonus Offer: Altair Outfit & Best Of soundtrack
Order Assassin's Creed Revelations and receive three Amazon.com exclusives: the Altair outfit single player skin, allowing Ezio to don the wardrobe of his legendary predecessor for the game's entire campaign, the Best Of Assassin's Creed digital soundtrack, and a pair of TriOviz 3D glasses for Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, enabling 3D gameplay on most 2D HDTVs...

...furthermore, if you go to the Official AC Facebook page here and click on 'Pre-Order' and then 'Amazon' link it also tells you the 'bonus' soundtrack is a Best-Of

https://www.facebook.com/assassinscreed?sk=app_291937037483255

So, in closing... the OTHER editions DO include the OFFICIAL Assassin's Creed: Revelations Soundtrack... the one that leaked, is from early Amazon.com shipments and is the Amazon.com "Best Of" bonus soundtrack.

We can all hug Ubisoft and apologise.

Then why does it say digital soundtrack if this was ripped from a CD included in Animus... Amazon Edition?

Look here, preview of Collector edition, not related to Amazon

Zooooooomed:

See the CD box? Does it say Revelations OST?

So Amazon provides "Best of" in digital form, and other Animus/Special/Collector Editions still get the same shit, only on CD.

As a contrast, when Ubisoft included CD for Brotherhood, cover was absolutely clear.

I would like to believe that but honestly I don't think so. I think it's the way that Amazon pre-orderers get the Soundtrack digitally weather they ordered the Animus or regular edition. The Disc included in the Animus and CE will likely be exactly the same only, well, on Disc.
On this site you can see unboxing pictures of the CE version of the game and also the Soundtrack CD. It's titled "Assassin's Creed Soundtrack", not AC Revelations and in other forums people who already got their Animus Editions or CEs confirmed that the OST is just a Best Of album...

Biggs v.2

As much as it seems a few of you want a conspiracy here, I think it's most likely (and more plausible) that the Amazon.com release simply printed physical CD's, (or UbiSoft supplied them with) only the 'Best Of' soundtrack on CD, rather than a digital download. That's a GOOD thing! The early releases you are seeing are MOST LIKELY amazon.com releases, as they always ship their gear early so it is at your place by the release date, if that is what you specified on order. Gamestop, etc as far as I am aware, don't do this.

So in closing, unless someone here has a copy in hand, that they ordered from Amazon and can confirm my theory, it remains just that. But I don't think it's a conspiracy from UbiSoft to "screw" people out of a soundtrack. I think it's more a question of where you pre-ordered from and sticking to what bonuses you received. Which makes total sense. I'll know when I pick mine up in-store on Tuesday and I am guessing when the Gamestop (etc) releases start showing up we'll know for sure.

OH and, "Pre-Order" graphics mean absolutely nothing, for the n00b who pointed that out. The CD's didn't even come in SLEEVES as they were packed into the Xbox/PS3 plastic covers and not contained separately. Packaging has changed slightly too... Stuff like that happens all the time. Find an 'unboxing' video on YouTube, you'll see what I mean.

You could put Assassin's Creed Revelations Ezio's Mix it wouldnt change the fact that those are tracks from any AC games BUT Revelations.

It ain't like I'm happy about this release, but it's here for those that want it...

If anybody wants that they can always check with links for any of the AC soundtracks that are complete. Or at least rename it cos this is not Revelations and should not be advertised as such whether you add a little nugget at the end or not.

Biggs v.2
11-13-2011, 06:47 AM
Doesn't really matter what the thread is called, because someone will eventually pop the Revelations OST into this thread, if they're cool. Then it's problem solved. Mountains, Molehills... [/Common Sense]

No, I read and answered exactly what you asked.

There are two soundtracks.

I said the soundtrack that comes with the game is just a CD containing tracks from previous games. I never said the soundtrack in the game is just a bunch of tracks from previous games (Although I'm sure there's a piece that's been reused somewhere in the game, maybe Ezio's Family). It's similar to how The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword comes with a CD featuring arrangements of songs from previous games, but only one of the songs is directly used in Skyward Sword.

I never said the soundtrack in the game is just a bunch of tracks from previous games (Although I'm sure there's a piece that's been reused somewhere in the game, maybe Ezio's Family).

The game features all-new music from Jesper Kyd and Lorne Balfe. They even have specific score elements for the cut-scenes and pre-rendered videos from Lorne Balfe. So it's a completely new score. iTunes confirms this with the 3 CD release due tomorrow... which I'll have in less than 18 hours!

TO EVERYONE. Animus Edition is a Best of, back of the box says so, so I guess every other edition ahs it too.

Not true. Depends on where you ordered your edition from. I fully believe other versions will come with the 1 Disk version of the Soundtrack, if you ordered it from other online sites and/or buy it in store. Again, I'm only speculating. Won't know for sure until I pick it up in-store, I'll be HUGELY disappointed if that is the case, but I guess that's why they're doing the huge iTunes release of three CD's worth of music... for a price.

The 3 CD Release is... AMAZING. I'm just working through the tracks now, up to 40 (OF 80!!) Seriously, this is prolly the best score of the year. I am biased, because I love Kyd/Balfe but their two styles work together perfectly, and the reprisal of some of the themes from the original Assassin's Creed is just heart-warming. The etheral 'monk' chants work side-by-side with Balfe's new 'Assassin's Creed' more traditional orchestral theme and it's amazing. Fully a score worth buying, 80 tracks people! EIGHTY. It's got the short stab-stuff from cutscenes, it's absolutely everything used in the game... Including the multiplayer tracks (which I haven't got to yet)

I know this. But like I said, I'm sure that somewhere in the game, there's a song or two that's been re-used, similar to ACB. I'm not saying that the whole score is being reused or anything. I mean that I'm sure there's at least one piece that has been reused in ACR. Brotherhood's soundtrack release didn't have any AC2 songs on it (Aside from the bonus track), but in-game, there were song songs left over from AC2. Who's to say Revelations doesn't do the same from Brotherhood? :P

I'd be happy if there was another hidden gem along the lines of Ezio's Family or Heart. Is there?

Multiple gems... My only complaint is a lot of the tracks are very short, I'm guessing that's because they are basically like-for-like copies of what is used in the game. There's a few over 3mins, but not many. Someone will do a nice montage/mix together of a bunch of the tracks to make them work more as a "piece" of singular musical arrangement I am sure, but 'Enough of One Life' is beautiful, 'Welcome to the Fold' is a somber mix of the main theme, again very nice... The first 5 or 6 tracks almost brought me to tears! So I think you'll find plenty of variety. Like I said, Kyd and Balfe provide two unique voices that compliment each other within the album...

Just a pity a bit more of a 'final mix' or alternate 'Public Release' arrangements weren't done to provide a bit more length on some of the tracks, but hell... it's a fantastic compilation of, what I can only assume, is everything used for the game. A fitting epic end for Ezio. It's easily my favorite album of the year, period.
