The soundtrack is coming out tomorrow nobody has it yet.

...Geez, guy, it's an OST, so of course someone's going to have it--that someone could even be you! Wait...haven't we already been through this once?

TWICE. Ya...I believe it was Tin Tin first, then Puss in Boots. I don't understand people requesting a COMMERCIAL release. It will be out tomorrow!

Oh, of course! Silly Me! I think I'm gonna request A Game of Shadows the day before it's commercially released, just for the hell of it. Because this now seems to be a routine

Well excuse me all to hell! But there have some some scores released on here before they hit stores so bite me!

The original poster created a new thread to request a soundtrack. And opened in the requests section. There's absolutely nothing wrong in doing so, that's why this section exists. To make requests.

Sure the OP will never buy this soundtrack. That's an objectionable conduct for recent soundtracks, otherwise he or she wouldn't even bother to request it, but then who on this forum never downloaded a new released soundtrack the moment that was leaked online?

DAKoftheOTA
11-08-2011, 02:26 AM
Well sure, anyone can request anything. But it's coming out TOMORROW. That's 3 and a half hrs away, where I am. I guarantee you someone will post it tomorrow. And that's our point - why request something when it will be released the next day?

The Dimensioner

but then who on this forum never downloaded a new released soundtrack the moment that was leaked online?

ME. I just feel it is immoral to download some music that is brand-spanking-new and in the spotlight of everything. Like I was really excited to hear David Arnold's work for the third Narnia movie and I saw it all over here when it came out, but I waited several months to download it.

I guess what I find wrong with this is why start a request thread for a score that isn't even out yet? I remember when someone started a thread requesting the complete scores to Tin Tin and--get ready for this--The Hobbit. That was like in June, and The Hobbit isn't even due out for a whole month and a year, currently! His excuse was, "I just thought I'd get an early start on it."

Just be patient. I don't see the point in people starting requests for a commercial OST that is guaranteed to make it's way online at some point anyway. It would be like me asking when a newly released DVD would be out in stores. Look, it's going to happen, and we all know it's going to happen, so why don't you just sit back and wait for it. Now, making a request for an old score, rare score, or score that nobody has seen or even knows if it exists--now, that's the main point I see in the purpose of this forum! And in some of those cases, sitting around waiting for it won't do the trick. You have to go looking for it yourself, seeking out the right people, making connections, etc.--and even that might not be enough.

Nobody has to go through these kind of trials for a commercial album. Bottom line: it is guaranteed to be here or elsewhere in time after its release, so just wait for it.

^^^Need I say anything more to agree with this?

A more appropriate request would perhaps be the score for Ben-Hur, or something along the lines of that. I say ben-Hur because I just watched it

Yes, you do have a point. Sometimes they do leak, but not always. Someone just posted the soundtrack for War Horse. But I find that usually it's big releases that are leaked. I remember TRON: Legacy leaked a little early last year

So, why get on my back about it...

Because Immortals isn't necessarily the biggest release. War Horse has 3 things going for it:

1.) John Williams
2.) Steven Spielberg
3.) It's a CHRISTMAS release - movies that are released in December are of high priority, and are usually the ones the AMPAA look forward to

This year we have

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
The Adventures of Tin Tin: The Secret of the Unicorn
War Horse

....among a few others

I don't mean to make you feel like shit about it. It's probably that someone else requested Puss in Boots a day or two before it was released, and as Dimensioner posted - some jackhole requested Tin Tin and THE HOBBIT (WTF?) back in June. The Hobbit most likely hasn't even come close to the scoring sessions; that's usually one of the last things done in production. It's all good man, it's just the people who requested things before you...

I can see The Hobbit as being absurd since it wont even come out till late next year, and I'm sorry if I disturbed you about my request. I thought it was a fair question

Had those requests not been made in the past, your request would not be a big deal. Like I said, those past requests are probably what set me off - it's all good

Because anyone can request anything. There's nothing inherently wrong with it, that's why the request section exists.
Sure it's morally questionable requesting a new released score and beyond stupid asking for something months prior of the release date, but a forum member is not prohibited to open a thread to make a request, if he or she does so in the right place like the original poster of this thread did.

Now, making a request for an old score, rare score, or score that nobody has seen or even knows if it exists--now, that's the main point I see in the purpose of this forum!

No. That's not the main point. It is but not the only one, since people can share, request and download not only old or rare scores, but also new scores. Be it officially retail albums, limited edition, bootlegs or fan made rips.
Bearing always in mind that unlike a common file-sharing forum where everything (and not only music) gets shared, the shrine only allows music from anime, films & tv and video games to be posted, with sometimes the exception of classical music and j-pop albums, and very recently rips of anime series and feature films.

I dropped out of this conversation and am just now reading Sanico's response. Thanks for explaining that, Dakota. I wasn't saying the request forum's ONLY purpose is to request rare scores, I just felt that it would be more useful in that manner rather than requesting scores that can easily be purchased or found elsewhere on the internet.

Also, @fuck23: Dakota just posted a link to konio's thread. Why did you post another link that originated from konio's upload?
