Hey guys, any chance we can get this one reuploaded? I have been looking for this soundtrack every since this movie was released back in the 80s. If no one's willing to reupload it, then perhaps you can PM me and point me to page or a site where I can grab and share it here for others. I love this site BTW. I found a lot great off the beaten path stuff here. Thanks to all for the tremendous generosity.

No it's been converted to FLAC from PCM WAV files, burned to a CD straight from vinyl source. The guy I bought it from made me a rip straight from his own vinyl LP. Also I do not think you can purchase the vinyl anywhere. I tried, before tracking down the guy, that was happy to make me a full rip for the cost of shipping. Reuploaded my FLAC version. Enjoy!

did you get contact to the guy on ebay or youtube?
was he called Jake davidson?

maximuxi

I repeat, the original source, before the CDwas burned it's a poor source. The audio is totally cutted at 16KHz. This mean that the original source is not from a good transfer or the user that sold you the disc it's not reliable.
Anyway thanks for your effort.

I am pretty sure he got this from that guy Jake I told you before. The guy only had wma audio files. and he was selling this, golgo13 and some other stuff, that he did not rip but made audio cds with those bad quality wma rips.
I am going to download this, to see if it is the same rips I have from that guy, which I regret had deals with him. The golgo13 flac Grimms shared I am 100% positive it is from that same guy, because the files are the exact same audio rips with the same exact noises.

It is not Grimms fault, everyone need to take notice of that. It's the person he was naive enough to deal with. I am still trying to find out how the hell that guy got my Shuten doji and call me tonight stuff and is trying to sell copies with scans included. How do I know this??? Because the scans on his videos are the mine. you can check the entry I made in VGMDB for shuten doji.
The guy was selling these on ebay in recorded cds, claiming super rare, and making audio cds from bad audio of wma.

Grimms, you are not to blame to share something a lot of people wanted.
Everyone should be thankful that you shared yes. In my case I refused to shared these and feel myself like I was lying to you all with such bad quality stuff.

Some people in the oldanime ost shared the files he had like here (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f91/only-old-anime-osts-bgm-einachi-67259/79.html#post1465629) for example.

The guy made an count here started to spam people who wanted wicked city ost that was coolstuff2003ad (http://forums.ffshrine.org/members/coolstuff2003ad-260050)
Another example of this cheap ass guy is that he asked Jessie about Wipeout 64 ost (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/doctor-jessies-vgm-fix-57031/76.html#post1358776), and he is now selling those rips of Jessie.
He was ban from ebay due to complains like these. I think my call me tonight he tried to sell FLAC and my scans was the one drop that made him close the account. Simon B. worked on ripping my LP and did Scans. SImon B. was the one to notice our scans that he put special markings to identify them.
QooQooQooQo in this thread (Thread 36555) was contacted by that guy, and he then PM me about how much he hated the guy about trying to sell wma files for damn high prices....

EDIT:

Downloaded this and compared to the files I have, which I re-encoded to mp3 at the time.
Its the same audio, same noises same everything.

Say what????
explain yourself. confused

i assumed that one of the reasons he was suggesting that someone should get the vinyl is because the track names are different. idk if they are but it's not really worth the money if they were changed

regarding my second comment...the instruments used in the "remastered" version are exactly the same as the ones used in the original release

still not getting what you mean with the names.....
same music, translated names.

MartyMcflies
04-05-2017, 01:07 AM
My point is that translated track names aren't a good reason to motivate me to buy a re-issued Japanese vinyl released in America.

If an American company decided to remaster some old Japanese album & re-issue it on vinyl and someone suggested that I should buy it because the names were translated from Japanese to English, then I wouldn't purchase it.

Orie
04-05-2017, 01:21 AM
in what universe that makes sense?

theturokfanboy
04-05-2017, 01:31 AM
Marty, you should appreciate the fact that a country outside of Japan is actually releasing an old forgotten anime soundtrack that's been OOP for fucking years. Tiger Lab is doing a huge favor for people who want to own super rare old anime OSTs and they're gonna continue on it seems which is a good thing. It's not about the damn tracklisting or translations or even remaster, it's about the album and purchasing it and supporting the label. Being able to own Wicked City OST without having to pay hundreds of dollars for the Japanese LP is a good thing. Sure it might not feel as authentic or yes it is missing the vocal songs but you should still be grateful that they released the album at all outside Japan.

Another thing, you obviously don't know the difference between a remaster and remix. It's a remix that actually changes the sound of the instruments.

MartyMcflies
04-05-2017, 02:25 AM
Trust me, I know the difference between a remaster and a remix. What you're describing as a remix is actually remastering; it's just taking the original sound recordings and trying to make them sound better than before (they'll adjust with the treble, bass, and/or dynamic range, among other things). It also states on the store page that it's a remaster...if it were a "remix" then it would be a completely different album.

If there's one thing I'll admit, it's that I had been misusing the term "remastering" and unknowingly been using it in the wrong way a few months ago. :P

I know it seems like the tracknames are the big reason why I'm not getting the album but that's not it. I'm grateful that they managed to release the OST outside of Japan, believe me, but the fact that they didn't include the vocal songs is really why I don't feel like getting it. If they weren't able to get the rights for them or something then I completely understand, but I kind of doubt that since they managed to get the two vocal songs for their LP release of the Devilman OVA...

Also, regarding the favor that Tiger Labs is doing...in all fairness, their Wicked City OST is the only one that's pretty rare to find. The other OSTs they've released are not that hard to locate for purchase

EDIT: Wouldn't it just be better to buy a CD copy from Shoji's website?

theturokfanboy
04-05-2017, 03:17 AM
No the CD from Shoji's website is flawed. Some sections of BGM are missing and the sound isn't very good. I think it's only 48 mins compared to the LP which is 54 mins. At least it has the vocal songs.
I've bought some other CDs from his site and they are all fine and complete. For some reason they dropped the ball on Wicked City.

MartyMcflies
04-05-2017, 04:56 AM
Damn...seeing how the current rip here was encoded from another rip, I was thinking of buying the US vinyl OST and taking the insert vocal song from the CD that it's part of.

Unfortunately it seems as if I can't do the same with the ending song, since it doesn't appear to be released on CD anywhere...

No my point about the translation was that the track names here and track names on the new vinyl release are different. You said the music is the same so I thought, "Oh then maybe it is the same music just with a different title."
