I know back in the day that some MP3 players had problems at times with Variable Bit Rate recordings is that still the case in some instances?

In my travels I have had no problems with Media Players or my Ipods or newly purchased Sansa Disk Clip Zip, in fact this new Clip will even play FLAC and AAC files with no problem.

I don't think so. Itunes is all VBR now, as are most official digital download mp3s.
