Sonic Generations Collector's Edition is Europe (and Australia)-Only (http://www.1up.com/news/sonic-generations-collectors-edition-europe-only)

I guess you guys in the UK and Australia are the lucky ones on this one. I thought about importing this game since the collector's edition looks pretty sweet, but after the currency conversion and totaling, I don't think I want to shell out approximately $150 for this.

Hopefully I can find a reasonable deal on ebay or something after its released, or maybe Sega will offer it to the US.

Hopefully they will announce a US version. I wish they would have an edition that includes all of the classic games.

So besides the obvious trinkets, what's new about this compared to my Sonic Mega Collection Plus I have for the PS2?

Its a new game based on old levels, some time travelling is done etc.

It remains to be seen how lucky we are, really. Even with Colours being an okay game, I still wouldn't put too much faith in a Sonic game being good.

Sonic Generations is actually a brand new game in the sense of storyline. You switch back and forth between classic Sonic and modern Sonic in levels from older games. However, the levels have changed to make it seem like entirely new levels.

This is true, but I did try out the trial version from the PSN and it seemed pretty decent so far. The trial would have been better to also include a level run with modern Sonic.

Yeah, I just threw down a reserve for this CE Edition - screw popular opinion, I actually LOVE the new look levels and the remix's this game has generated!
For example: Sonic Generations: Sky Sanctuary Trailer [HD] - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lZkJLq6Pmw) - Sky sanctuary...Dat music! <3~

And to reiterate, yeah...this isn't a HD release of old levels as they were...this is a whole new reimagined spin on them - so it's actually BETTER than just a Sonic collections title!

Went to Six Flags this weekend in San Antonio, TX and they had a demo version of Green Hill Zone with Modern Sonic. Pretty cool game. Pretty sure I'll get this game now.

So it's coming to PC for something like $20. That's pretty cool.

Nope, the games getting very positive reviews...this could simply be THE game that puts things back on track.

I agree with Stealth. Every Sonic game after Sonic Heroes has sucked (with the exception of Sonic 4, imo). After playing a couple of demos for Sonic Generations, it seems pretty solid so far.

Well, I guess I should have specified up to Sonic 4. I've never played Colors, so I'm not sure how that game stacks up at all.

I hated Heroes and felt sonic moved like a tank in 4, haven't tried any others. no wait that secret Rings on Wii . . . awful, but the Classic/modern demo for Green hill is lush and this CE! I can't believe this is PAL only, i doubt it'll stay that way but this time sonic finally feels . . . right!

Checked out the new demo and I like the Modern gameplay more than the Classic gameplay. I never really liked the old Sonic games and I don't particularly like modern Sonic (by which I mean Colours) either, but if I had to pick one I'd go with Modern. Classic Sonic requires more time than I'm willing to invest to be fun because you need to memorise the levels more. However, whenever CS throws in a bit of platforming like having to ride a swing from one side to another, it feels totally clunky and out of place and it always has.

Yeah, the physics in Episode 1 were pretty bad. They said they would try to improve on that in Episode 2. Hopefully...

I guess at some point, I may have to try it out. I may buy it during Black Friday since the game is already dirt cheap anyway.

Oh chewey, thanks for reminding me about the new demo they just released. Gotta download that tonight. :)

So I checked the game out on PC. If you've got a decent computer I'd recommend playing Generations on it. The game looks pretty great with the higher resolution and 60FPS. It's pretty cheap on PC too.

As for the game, it's pretty good. It's at least as good as Colours.

Well, now I know it's a good game if you like it. :D

It's not particularly difficult or anything, at least not yet. I only played up to the first boss and so far I was usually getting S ranks in the standard levels. In some of the challenge rooms my rank dropped as low as D, though. I didn't find a lot of the hidden red coins, which would probably add to the difficulty if I could be bothered to go look for them.

So, I'm mostly diggin' it because the game looks really pretty and for the most part plays well. The story is actually pretty well done too, which is unexpected.
