So I was at the point where you are on the ship and can go to any destination that wish. I hadn't been anywhere on it but I was about to go and do more. Yeah there is still a long way to go from here but it's still over half way through or so I am told. It took me 43 hours to get this far.

So I let my younger sister start a new game herself cus she kept bugging me about it and my mum took her side. She did 45 minutes and saved her game... over my 43 hour game!

43 hours wasted! Visions of breaking my sisters neck went through my head, I couldn't believe it and now I can not contemplate going through it all again. If I had of completed the game then I would've gone back and done it again using the advanced sphere grid but not completing it just makes me not want to do it too much and I'm having to force myself to do it.

Over the last month I've done 8 hours, an hour and a half of that was last night and that was mainly leveling up cause I lost the first aeon battle which I won first time round and then I got knocked off the clif by the chocobo eater and I beat him last time so when I got to the bottom of the cliff I realised I needed to get more spheres. But one thing I did get that I didn't on the first time was the blitzball trophy, I beat the Goers 2-1 in over time!!

I'm now on my way to the command centre to see the machina battle against Sin but I've got so long until I get back to the place where I was at last. It's the parts that I know that are going to be boring thar put me off carrying on, like Temple of The Ancients in FF7.

Anybody else had any catastrophies such as this?

Yep did that with FFIX, was worth it to go through it again.

See this is what file 99 is for, safe save space.

Well if you put subtitles on you can skip some of the talking scenes so that will make the game go faster at least. I mean you dont want to miss the EXCELLENT ending do you?

Dude, that sucks. I'd be mega gutted if that ever happened to me... Luckily, my family doesn't seem to share my interest in video games, and I don't let them anywhere near my PS2 to even threaten my saved games... I know memory cards are expensive, but maybe you could buy your sister a separate one so this doesn't happen again?

Still, I really enjoyed playing through Final Fantasy X, and it gives you a chance to absorb parts of the plot that may have not been clear first time through. I plan to play again using the Expert Sphere Grid mode over Easter when I'm at home, er, "studying."

Good luck mate.

Ouch. All I can recommend is if at all possible, try it again. Start getting all the stuff you didn't get before, like, say, maybe if you didn't get all the Al Bhed primers and stuff and all of the treasures. Other stuff:

- Set the battle and message speeds as fast as possible, with the subtitles, and power through the dialogue and battles. Most of the dialogue can be skipped, although the game forces you to listen to some of it. (You can usually tell, I've found that if you can see the character's lips moving when they say the dialogue, it's more likely you can't skip it, although that's not a hard and fast rule.)

- FMV Skip: I don't know if this works for FFX because I've never tried it, but it works in FFIX. Eject the disc and then pop it back and in and it'll skip past an FMV.

Good luck!

The worst thing that has ever happened to me was in Chrono Trigger, I was playing it at lvl 88 and I saved over it with a new game... I was SO mad...

Bahamut Zero is referring to the Expert Sphere Grid that's only available to those who have the International version of Final Fantasy X. So if you don't have that version, then don't worry about that one.

I blitzed the game this morning with 5 hours non stop playing and now with 13 hours on the clock I'm about to get on the shoopuf.

Final Fantasy 7 I had a bad run with to, my PC wasn't good enough for it and when weapon first appeared my comp couldn't handle the FMV and just froze. I got through that though when I bought a playstation.

Expert Sphere Grid Info... if you want to find out yourself, don't read

The expert sphere grid isn't really much different except you can send the characters on different routes and some of the things are in different places and are blocked by level 3 speres when you haven't even got level 2's yet... maybe that's because I spent ages powering up and getting loads of spheres, don't know. I couldn't find Kimari's route on the sphere grid either so I sent him off with Yuna so I had two people to heal and then sent both kimarhi and yuna in Rikku's route because rikku has 4 HP spheres inside about 12 moves so I wanted to get their health up. I sent Tidus on route with Auron also cause that way they can both be as powerful as each other, right now Auron's attacks are about 50 hp better than Tidus's... I also want to get them both to have full break since that's the way you cause all the damage or so I hear.

ah, I have a some-what humorous story to that.

I let my friend start a new file and I keep on telling him NOT to erease mine after he got three housr into it I erased his.

does anyone see the irony in that.

Anyway I eventually got it back for him

Luckily I am not suffering from these kind of problems since the PS2 is MINE xD. If one of my brothers wants to play they need my persmission and further if they want to save they will need to buy their own memory card. Either way I hope something like this never happens to me.

thats nothing compared to what i've been through

first, i have a FF7 save file on the thirds disc. last spot you can save, right before the Sephiroth battle (literally). but my whiny brother wants me to do chocobo stuff for him, so i go to his file. when i'm done i go to save a dn overwrite me 60+ hour file that is right before sephiroth....... ARGH

my FF10 story is much worse... my friend came over so i was doing the chocobo thing where you gotta get 0:00 seconds (which i did for him btw). its easy for me, so when i finished i gave him the controller. then he went to save and instead os going in memory card 2 (where his memory card is) he goes in slot 1.... and then by reflex overwrites my file.... now, heres where its tough... I HAD 110+ HOURS IN IT. almost completely done EVERYTHING in the game..... i had that file for almost a year

thats how you ruin FF10

Eventually, you have to face your "fears" and replay FFX (and/or others...).

I once accidently saved over my Disk 3 FF8 save with an earlier one (I was trying to see Seifer's limit break). I did it by complete accident and I was very frustrated... I convinced myself that I beat FF8 (although at the time, I didn't) but that didn't last very long. I went back to replay FF8 and I worked harder at it (to get more levels, spells, ect.) and I guess it kinda payed off, a bit, in the end...

I always save backups now, every four hours at the least. For example, when I was recently playing FFIX to the get the Excalibur II, I accidentally saved the Excalibur II file over a 60+ hour save. Fortunately, I had the backup and only had to make up for about four hours.
