I've been giving this stats thing some more thought..

Now I've got cloud up to 255 all round I know that one can continue to add sources even after the thing is 'filled'..
It's common wisdom that these don't add anything to the characters stats, they just disappear..

However, when i use hero drink it does raise my attack pwr.. ie thet game DOES have that facility..

hmm

Like it matters. with stats that high youll just be hitting for 9999 every time anyways.

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">Yeah, I doubt they'd make it so that a Hero Drink misses when your stats are at 255, they probably didn't think of that. ;) But yeah, with that much strength you shouldn't need any further boost of strength, you can just waste your items if you want. :p

Erm well, i use the yoshiyuki sword which, with 56 atk pwr, doesn't always hit for 9999,sometimes it dips to about 6500.

So y'know i fancy getting that a little higher.. cos with the hero drink it only dips to about 8500..

And if the game is capable of upping a 'perfect' strength then i wanna try engineer it with my disappearing sources..

Well, have you been trying it and, if so, have you noticed any effect so far?

not really..

- To the best of my knowledge I'm the only person to get a character up to 255 all round with no help from materia/accessories..
- Plus it's pretty cool having someone that good.. so strong and unbelievably lucky - I can put cloud in alone with the midgar golom, cast haste on IT.. and still not get damage on cloud for about 15 minutes.. just keeps dodging..

meh..

thats cool, but your not the only person to do it at all, maybe if you got all your characters up to 255 all round...maybe then :p

No no no no. It's theoretically impossible to get anything higher than 255. The Hero Drink must do something besides add anything to that 255. I suggest you research exactly how the Hero Drink works, because it can't work by making the strength higher than 255. That's mostly because there is no higher number than 255 as far as the stats in FF7 go (like how you can't have more than 99 of an item).

I think so, aynway.

You're probably right mr.master.

animated spirit, damn.. that's cold man! --I mean, I'm trying to get the most out of this game.. looking for new things and achieving new 'heights' ..That's what this forum is about *edited by chihuadog*

So wait... You'll put all this time into trying to figure out how to raise stats above 255/trying to figure out exactly what the hero drink does, but you won't spend time simply getting a better weapon?

Bah! There is no better weapon than the yoshiyuki!! Look at it! It's beautiful, mysterious and exclusive! Most o' the other swords are butt-ugly!

Plus.. Although it only has 56 atk pwr... When 1 / 2 characters on your team are down.. It's attk pwr doubles / triples! i.e. 112/168!

And it's got more character than the soulless monsters (ie other swords..) that hack off 9999 every time.. the tedium!!

Also.. it entertains no stat boosting effects; so I can gauge my charcaters 'true' strengths.. Moreover.. It's 2 slots encourage real deliberation over one's choice of materia... Having just what you need and getting by without, forces one to be more 'astute' (instead of say.. ultima weapons 8 slots.. that's just perverse.. makes you lazy and blase. ignorant and decadent!) The sword and materia end up doing the work for you.. I say: Less Is More !!!

yes indeed.
