Anyone play this game? i recently saw a lets play of someone beating this game and i got this urge to replay it.

I wouldn't say its flawless or anything, but its certainly quite a good game.
I enjoyed the gameplay quite a bit and thought it was innovative.

And now i am searching my house for the second cd which i placed in some other packet and i can't remember where in my room hmm,i might have to download a pirated version.

Anyways:i really enjoyed this game and might some day play bloodlines, but i hear that bloodlines isn't as good.

As someone who GM'd for the tabletop version for years and years and *years*, I was understandably interested in this when it came out.

But I wasn't really that fussed with it. I suppose the complexities of the tabletop RPG were always going to be difficult to put into a single player game. The fact that it was a pretty routine hack and slash, along with the pain of seeing the extremely simplified versions of the Clans and what they were like (paritcularly the Tzimisce - my favourite Clan), was too much for me. So I never did get round to finishing it.

Most of my mates who played it thought it was alright, and I was probably the person who liked it the least. But that said, even the ones who did get really into it, didn't absolutely *love* it. We all had a good laugh at the main character bellowing 'To the Abyss with thee!' as he heroically cut down some barrels and crates.

So I don't know, its not a game I look back on with any great fondness. Its just a game that I have played, and thought was sort of okay. And given how much I used to love the World of Darkness games, that in itself was a huge disappointment.

I live in spain and i'm not 100% sure if i could even get that tabletop.
because i live in a situation where i always play solo,i tend to play rpgs alone since none are internested and this caused me to just play single player mode in everything,so i'm not basing it on that.

It could be that perhaps maybe it didn't but i really like the disciplines and how you have to drink blood to survive but you can lose humanity if you kill someone who is a human innocent.

I hear that multiplayer is quite fun though and people tend to make maps for it.

I'm not talking about multiplayer in the game or anything (could you even play it multiplayer - I can't remember).

I'm just saying that as tabletop RPG, the game was about vastly more than combat. It was first conceived as a modern horror, and that's where most of the best work was done by White Wolf. When it became sucessful, they made Dark Ages spin-offs etc, but they were never as good. The fact it was so tuned into modern reality was its strength, picking up on the mood of the time.

That's something you just can't translate into a game that is so combat focused. Its missing the point - Vampire was good, because with its tale of cursed creatures living in the Final years of civilisation before the Apocalyse, it tapped into a generation of young (or young at heart) people who found modern life soul-crushingly bleak and hopeless, who felt doomed etc.

It gave them a chance to live in a world that felt familiar enough to matter to them, whilst empowering them with cool abilities and chances for adventure that made things seem a little less hopeless. It was a huge success at the time, and something that any video game was going to have real trouble emulating.

I've played a little of Redemption and Bloodlines. As well I played the Tabletop RPG before touching the Video Games.

Redemption... uh... :shrugs:... It's gameplay and game engine were rubbish.

Bloodlines was a nice proposal though. But the game was very very buggy and the 1st stage of the game (Santa Monica), was the only real good part. It had the best quests out of the game.
And the game's disciplines were poorly programed too. It's better in the game for you to make yourself a Gunslinger Toreador, rather than use any other Clan that the game offers.
In terms of Plot, there wasn't anything special about it. But some of the characters were simply great.

I don't know. That's all I can say about these games.
I've never been fan of the Tabletop RPG either, although World of Darkness has Mage the Ascension which is simply the best tabletop RPG ever IMO. The whole Vampire lore in general or how are they treated in any fiction work do not convince me. But I admit that I had good times playing some modules with my buddys.

I dunno i really really liked redemption and bloodlines looks really interesting too,but it seems more like a graphical adventure rather than rpg.
One of the things that looks interesting about bloodlines,is that you really have a bigger use of manipulation skills to get things out of people and charm and wit and such.

In redemption, everything is about combat skills, and i think its actually quite good.
I still think its quite good.

The story is also a little intriguing in the wars between clans and you falling smack in the middle and everything changes when you reach the 21st century and clans you were fighting merged with the clan you were in and such.

I don't play tabletop games because i don't have any friends who like that kind of thing.
Where i am,the big thing is bycicling going to the beach and things like that,i don't know anyone who likes tabletop games. When i did play a board game,it was always something else like:scrabble or monopoly.

I did play lord of the rings board game and atmosfear once.

I don't suppose anyone here knows where i can find a working version for english language pack?
I got it dubbed in spanish with spanish text and i want it in english with english text.

I can find the actual game without much difficulty, but its a spanish version and my cd is also spanish so the voice acting comes out dubbed as well, and the game has no english language pack.

I'm so pissed off today.

I played Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption, shit was hard as balls.

I remember not being able to get past the first boss after you became a vampire. I even used programs to reset my skillpoints so I could reallocate them and try again with different strategies, NOTHING WORKED *sad panda*

Then came patch 1.1, still hard as ball but eventually made it. I liked the story and truthfully, I never played the tabletop version, so I woulnd't know how it compares. I just know I really enjoyed the atmpsphere of this game.
