i read in a forum that red XIII is not the only one to survive but i thought that it was because the very end is a long time in the future. how could anyone else live that long?

Did i read it wrong?

I'm not sure how they would do it either. Maybe like in Futurama (the TV series) where Fry got trapped in a capsule and he didn't age...and just stayed in the capsule, and thousands of years later, he comes out, same age he was when he went in. Maybe they had something like that in FF7..?

Otherwise, it's probably just some fan spreading rumors because he can't face the fact that the characters died..o.O; Weird case.

who said any of the characters except red lived?
i know red lived because he ages slowly... like hes 40 but really... hes like a teen...
kinda like that... thats why red lived... but i dont think any of the others lived because ff7 never showed them

Yeah, as I understand it, Red XIII is 48 in real years, but actually only 16 in terms of development, or maturity or whatever you want to call it. So it's 500 years when we see Red with his kids, so that makes him about 180 years old in our terms. A long time, but I guess his race just has a very long life span.

Oh- and Koenma, it's 500 years, not thousands of years. Did you see the scene with Red XIII after the credits of the game?

i got it:

it was in the 'Apart from cloud ,if you could be any FF7 character who would you be and why?' forum and it was posted by ryouko.

on the first page nanaki xiii mentioned that red xiii survives and on the second page ryouko said that red xiii was not the only one to survive... am i reading this right?

But what you guys said is what i believe to be true.

I don't know. I totally think it's possible that the other characters survived. It's just that they didn't survive as long as Red XIII because, well, who but Red XIII could survive 500 years?

Indeed I have, many times. I was using "thousands of years" in my example, not the explanation of the years in the game. =P

well....
think exponentially....
kinda like the fact that dogs age seven times faster than humans so they have birthdays very often compared to us....
so maybe humans age 3 times as fast so yea....
i really dont want to do the math here..... so you go do it....

Yes, later on Red XIII is the only who survives. But really, that's on;y because it was a lot of years later

When it comes down to it, it's really all speculation. There are always going to be mysteries like that surrounding an ending as vauge as VII's. That's why I consider it to be the worst ending to a good game in the history of RPGS.

You really think so?

I think that it just gave as much of an ending as it really needed to, showed that everything was okay, and left you to decide what happened to the characters and all...

But IMO:

***SPOILERS***

Remember Bugen Hagen saying Holy could destroy humans since they might be bad for tha planet? Well when you watch the ending sequence with Red XIII, you see Midgar covered in plant-life, you also see birds and such, but there is absolutely no trace of humans, so I believe that Holy destroyed them...

**END OF SPOILERS***

So actually, depending on how you look at it, it could be vague, or you could piece together information tid-bits from the game and draw up your own, like my theory I stated above...

But AdemA, how can you tell? The view is so wide and big, obviously you're not going to be seeing any humans...they're too small to see...

But I must say, a very interesting theory you have there...

I have to agree with Adema on the ending of FF7, I've even had a few drawn out conversations with friends a few years back when we first beat that game.

On to Red XIII and his family, wasn't red the last of his species, which is why Hojo tried to cross breed him with Aeris. If so how could Red possibly have a family at the end of the game?

Because all of Midgar is covered in plant-life, if ppl still lived their, don't you think they would at least upkeep their homes O_o?
But yeah, I never thought of it that way, and you do have a good point, but I think that if people DID live their, that they wouldn't have been overrun by plants, lol... Plus, whats the point of showing it all without humans? I mean, wow, look at the sea-gulls O_o, lol
