I just love e.skills.. they cater for everything... curative, offensive through to downright weird.

Which is your personal favourite?

For me, it's gotta be white wind or big guard - so damn useful, ww curing all health and all status, bg with the speed 'n' barrier.

And I've discovered a way to get the old 7777 trick licked through them.. all you have to do is cast chocobuckle on a fellow team member on 9999 after you've escaped from exactly 2222 battles.

- ok so it may take a while to escape from that many but c'mon give me credit for finding a way to engineer it :lol :lol :lol

---- on a separate note, WOOHOO, I've got cloud up to full stats 255 all round with no help from materia (XXX plus) or special stat boosting weapons. Anyone else done that? took about 26 hours.

o_O There are other 7777 ways but that isn't whats the thread about.

Uhmm, best enemy skill Imho has got to be Big guard once you have it. It casts all the goodness in once (if your party Hp's is low enough), what more do you want? :E
Bad breath is pretty fun as well when it works :B

Most useless enemy skill has got to be deathforce o_o aka life 3.

what about magic hammer...thats a very useful one earlier on in the game...a little bit later too i suppose

oh yeah, i forgot that one

M.hammer erm... rocks?

Got a job yet Jack?

Anybody got a job for ol' Jack-on-the-dole?

My favorite Enemy Skill is Big Guard. For a relatively small MP cost, you get Barrier, MBarrier and Haste on everyone in your party. That rocks! Second place goes to White Wind, points to Beta and Goblin Punch as attack skills. Magic Hammer I never found much use for, except when trying to take out Godo really early in the game.

Big Guard is certainly one of the most useful.. but I thought one of the coolest (and yet a let down at the end) was pandora's box.

Also, Angel Whisper (or something like that... don't remember the exact name).

Angel Whisper's correct. That's a pretty good one. Bring characters back to life or heal them and remove status effects.

I thought Pandora's Box looked cool. The only problem I had with it is that it doesn't really do anything that any of your physical attacks or strong magic couldn't do more easily and quickly.

I liked Angel Whisper (revive and heal all hp/status), and big guard..

...speaking of enemy skills, does death roulette work on bosses/weapons?

Agent0042
03-22-2003, 03:19 AM
No, it doesn't. That's why I'm not a big fan of some of the skills like that. Roulette doesn't work on bosses/weapons. Neither does Laser, nor Death Sentence (I think there might maybe be one or two this works against.) All mostly or completely ineffective on bosses/weapon and therefore not particularly useful.

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">Yeah, it would be a bit too easy if you could just use instant death attacks on bosses. ;) Although it is possible for that to happen in FF8 and FF10...

I never really used enemy skills that much myself. I generally used other magics or just physical attacks. I did use Big Guard a few times early on though, mainly for the haste considering the barriers run out so quickly then. I also used Death Force in the Battle Arena against the regular tonberries, then it's impossible to be killed in that battle. ;)

My favorites are Angel Whisper, White Wind, Big Guard (even though the haste makes the Barriers fade quickly), and Shadow Flare.

Trine, Aqualung, and Beta are great skills to have early on. So was Magic Hammer...

Some useless skills to me are Death Force, Chocobuckle, ???, and at times Roulette.

Escape 2222 battles? Personally, I don't like escaping battles. Don't ask why...but I have to thank you for telling us an interesting way how to get 7777.

Heh. :D 2222 is a hell of a lot of battles alright.. But - I'm intrigued, is there another way to get the 7777 thing??

I mean, for anyone at lvl. 99.. (I heard that Barret at lv 52 can be 'engineered' to do it, but that ain't gonna last..)

Tekno? Any clues? :eye:

There's one way to do it, but it's another one that's very limited. It only works for Emerald Weapon. Aire Tam Storm does 1111 damage for each materia a character has equipped (up to 9), so if you have a character with 9999 and you equip them with two materia, then if Emerald does Aire Tam while they still have 9999, then they get Lucky 7's. Only other way I know to do it is to finagle it so that their HP is less then 7777, but ends with 2 7's, then use potions to get current HP up to 7777. That'll work for the next battle only, then the rule is that it always drops to 1.

All lucky sevens (7777) may not be a good way to fight Emerald. I tried it before and Emerald still creamed me (although he's dead now and has been dead for a long time...). But it still could be a great way to start off the fight (hey you do alot of free hits that do 7777 each) but don't go in expecting that only all 7777's is gonna with that fight for you...

hmm.. interesting..

Talking of weapons, was anyone else pissed off to find their reward for 86ing ruby was the world's crappiest chocobo?
I mean, even wild ones take about 60 sylkis greens MAX to get them all optimum speed n stamina.
This piece o' sh*t takes over a hundred greens and is slower than a dyslexic dope-head. Mine was 88 top speed - this just aint right!

Do you think there may be a formula somewhere in the fight with ruby that controls what your chocobo's speed'll be..? i.e. beat him quickly/skillfully and get a fast choco OR make a crap job of it and get a sh*tty one..
(based on the fact that my save game after beating ruby - but before acquiring the chocobo - ends up with 88 choco speed every time)
just a thought..

Meltigemini

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">No, I don't think there's any set formula to get a decent chocobo from that, I've only ever had really slow ones too. I guess the idea is for people who don't have KOtR yet so that they cang et it without breeding themselves. But that would mean you didn't have KOtR for the Weapon battles anyway. So, that chocobo's a bit useless really. :p

Agent0042

Yeah, the gold chocobo you get for beating Ruby is probably the lamest gold chocobo around. And there really isn't any way to change it, either. It's probably better just to not cash your in your prize on that, or just let him go and breed your own extra gold chocobo.

Yes I have =)

I like Big Guard the best by far, it's the most useful I think, but I also like Shadow Flare for the animation, it's pretty kewl looking, even though it is very simple...

And yes, Chocobuckle is good for the All Lucky 7's trick, though it takes forever to get there, it is pretty kewl to unleash that chain of attacks whenever you so desire ^_^ O_o

But it would suck if you entered a battle you can't win and the only way to keep alive is to escape and now you escaped 2223 times... It could ruin it...

So just wait until your characters are "godlike" or whatever anyway and then it won't be a problem. Seriously, once you've spent a little time enhancing your characters' stats, there really isn't any reason that you would ever need to run from a battle.

lol, by the time you ran away 2,222 times, and had 9,999 life, then you should be able to handle any battle thrown your way, even if it is really tough, just use the all lucky 7's trick to win it, that should kill any regular enemy, seeing as it hits for 7,777 each time...
