No official comment has been made, Square has stated that a sequel tenativly called Final Fantasy X-3 is underway for the PS2

Some rumors are floating around that this will tell Rikku's Story and will take place 6 months after the events of FFX-2. But nothing is solid about that yet.

What makes FFX so great that they create a whole series dedicated to it? I ask you; is it the graphics? The voice overs? Or the fact that FFX was such a success (I think)? I personally believe it's a load of crap that they would do this...it's something new but why this series...? Why FFX?

It's probably just me, it seems many people like this game, so...who knows, maybe what I'm saying it pointless.

i think its a good move from Square. people thought FFX-2 would be dumb and loook at it climb the charts in Japan.....

Square would do better if they start making another sequal for another game. Like 6 or 7 for all that.

I don't think they've gone completely insane, after all FFX-2 is going to be the best seller this year in Japan by a HUGE margin. Plus... if its any good (and even if it isn't) I'll buy it, and I know tons of other people who will also. I guess as long as people keep buying them they'll keep making them, but maybe thats just some insane theory that I dreamed up when I went to bed WAY too late last night.

Sigh, I heard bits and pieces about it but it's actually coming out?
I think square should be considering pleasing FF6 - FF9 fans and making a sequel, prequel or a remake. of any of these fine classics.

It's FF though. Should we complain? We are going to go out and buy it anyway. I give an applaud to Square for bringing more FF. We can't criticize them for thier decisions. They always bring us a quality game and that is what it's all about ain't it?

As I stated in my first post, there has been no *official* confirmation.

However it IS known that Squaresoft is making a title for the PS2 that, for now, is tenativly called FFX-3, but as their has been no OFFICIAL word on it, they could just be putting up a smoke screen by using that title.. who knows, maybe they'll reveal it is a FFVI-2 or something like that.

However I read in an interview with a few of the Game Developers at Square that they'd really like to make a new game and not just develop large amounts of sequels for the old games, so I guess we don't know much yet lol.

I know it's not confirmed but I read an interview with some of the makers of FFX-2 and they said they might work on FFX-3, which is probably likely.

Anyways, keep us posted...I don't like sorting through big messes on the net looking for good facts.

Well... if they're shooting for a quick 1 2 combo (or 2 3 in this case), they'll probably pull a .hack and use the same engine in FFX-2 in FFX-3, then all that needs to be done is the scripting (if not done already)/voice acting (probably already started if this is the case), level map designing (not much, they can use much of it off of FFX-2 since it only takes place 6 months after FFX-2 ends), weapon and character models/skins.


Although this will still take 4-5 months (for the Japanese one), that would DEFINITLY be too fast.. which is why they're not going to do it ;).


Of course, this is all assuming the rumors about time period, acutal game it is, etc. are correct.

i would hope it came out 5 months after. i will be done ff10-2 in a month TOPS. and i will be bored....

Well ya, hopefully it would and still be a good game. But I'd rather they make a quality game than just a crappy sequel ;)


Also, the reason why this took so long was the new engine and MUCH higher quality graphics.. (if u've seen any of the real play videos you'll know what I'm talking about).

Five months sounds like too little time. I too would rather it take longer and have a quality game.

dam , i barely got through with ffx , n theres like a 3d one on the way. the second one wont even make it to u.s. maybe , or it will but in a long long time.

your psot makes no sense. there is no ffx3 on its way. its juust a rumor. and ffx2 will come to north america novemrber 4th. thats not a long time. and how did you barely get through ffx? its so easy.....

Umm... wow... I didn't understand that at ALL. The main post doesn't say that its on its way. It says that Squaresoft is making a game tenativly titled FFX-3 and that there has been no official announcment.

I think this is a gd idea as FFX is my 2nd fave FF but europe are still waiting for FFX-2 so i want to play this before i decide if i want thrid one or not!

Even if there was a FFX-3 (as in actual sequal) I don't think it's necessarily milking the series. FFX was definately one of the most story driven Final Fantasy games made and it took place in a world where "saving the world" didn't necessarily mean a happy ending for everybody. It also had some subtle themes (at least that I saw) that you again, can only safely impliment in a game when you know that everybody who plays it will come across it (aka. A linear plot where you are forced to be the main character and not you make the main character yourself). The fact that each character does in fact have a background that they only mention in the game probably leaves room for a lot of sequals. FFX was Tidus' story (that being something emphasized in the beginning of the game) FFX-2 is suppose to be Yuna's story...and from the rumors of an actual FFX-3, it's suppose to be Rikku's story...But that's just my outlook on it anyway. Maybe it just a feeling I got from more realistic graphics and actual voice overs, but I think the fact that many of the FFX characters were so well developed led to this.

A think the ideas in ffx-2 of having multiple paths through the game by doin the 'missions' in different orders is a gd one, because it gives you real replay value to find out the WHOLE story u kno? and the fact you can only get the secret ending in ffx-2 if you 100% the game......But the stuff about missions i nthe 2nd I would think this would make it too confusing to keep up with all the different plot developments if you chose to do the missions in a weird order:S

I think that FFX-2 is a great idea.......but another sequel.....I don't think it is a good idea.

I'm going to have to agree with xenoandroid, I think that honestly if they can pull it off, more power to them, I mean, I KNOW I'll buy it...

Final Fantasy X-2 unlikely to have another sequel
The game's producer comments on the possibility of a Final Fantasy X-3.

In a recent interview conducted by Japanese site 1984, Final Fantasy X-2 producer Yoshinori Kitase commented that the possibility of a Final Fantasy X-3 going into development is very unlikely. In addition, Kitase commented that users should expect Final Fantasy X-2 to be quite different from any of the previous games in the Final Fantasy series.

"In making the Final Fantasy series, we've had a lot of challenges, but there's also been points where we had to stay conservative," Kitase said. "X-2 has been a change for us since it's [the first time a game in the series has been a] sequel, so we took the opportunity to do a lot of things that we usually hold back on."

Bio and Reflect could work well, and I suggest you to attack Mortibody more because it absorbs 4000hp from Seymour once you do that much damage to him.
