Ages ago I said I would upload these but for various reasons I hadn't yet. These CD's mean a lot to me and I wish that they were still available for people to buy as they really are great, particularly Artistic Transformations.

These CD's aren't ripped in FLAC but Apple Lossless (m4a), sorry but thats the format that is easiest for me to work with. You want something else, feel free to convert it :-)

What did you use to compress the files for upload?

GoshShesHot
07-30-2011, 07:02 PM
BetterZip on the Mac. I told it to produce archives of 300MB's, I tested unzipping before uploading. Are you having problems?

cdc01a
07-30-2011, 07:25 PM
It didnt recognize it when I downloaded it. I renamed it to .zip and Winrar said it was a bad archive.

---------- Post added at 01:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:19 PM ----------

I think that Betterzip is Mac only. Do you think you could re-archive it in a .rar and re-post?

Finished recompressing as RAR's, will be 80 minutes to upload.

All the ZIPs opened fine on my end, via 7-Zip.

Thanks, by the way. I downloaded these quite a while ago in MP3 320kbps within a 4.5GB torrent with a bunch of other Transformers music (pre-RotF), but it's great to finally have them in a lossless form. :D

Another good one that complements this one nicely is The Protoform Sessions, I love that one. It has some awesome stuff on it.

I have it uploaded to my DivShare page if anyone wants it; it's not in FLAC, though.

Just saw it, thanks!! It's a good one. I like Artistic Transformations okay, not my most favorite, but it's good. Vince DiCola's Transformers music is always good to me. Two other ones that have concert performances of a lot of the movie's cues are the 1997 "'Til All Are One" Album and the "Botcon '97 - The Concert" album, from the concert that Vince DiCola and Stan Bush did at BotCon '97. Those are good too.

Don't think I've heard the Botcon '97 - The Concert album.

Am to understand correctly that this is the complete soundtrack exclusively released for a convention and unavailable otherwise? This is my husband's Holy Grail of movie soundtracks (once he finally tracked down Predator). Transformers is his entire childhood, and his love for it knows no bounds. Words cannot express my thanks for uploading it. D/ling it for him will definitely score me some big points in the "best wife ever" category! :)

GoshShesHot
08-03-2011, 09:38 AM
Yes it is the complete score & no it wasn't exclusive to the conventions (an earlier release was exclusive but that was missing the pieces of music on the official album release from the time).

It was sold for a time online back in 2001 (along with Artistic Transformations and The Protoform Sessions) by 3H Enterprises (later 3H Productions), which was the/some of the people behind Botcon, to give people who couldn't attend Botcon an opportunity to get a copy of the music.

i.e. if they don't keep re-releasing this score in some form or another, DiCola and his family go hungry :(

Yeah, absolutely! Twas just joking about DiCola's entire fame been based on this score (and maybe Rocky too) :)

But hey, I ain't busting... it's much more fame than me and my band have!

Hey, so I'd like to have this in ALAC format but the links seem to be down. Please reupload? I'll love you forever. :) I wanna upgrade from my MP3s.

Actually, I'd love to buy the freaking album (how I found this page), but I don't think that'll ever happen. I have Protoform Sessions and Artistic Transformations at least; they might still be available on Vince's site.

If you have 'Til All Are One, I'd appreciate an Apple Lossless upload of that as well. I realize it's mostly the same content as on Lighting Their Darkest Hour, but it has other goodies too, and I'd just like to have the full album for "completion's sake."

About the full soundtrack release? It was a BotCon exclusive, '97 or '98 I think? And I've been so wanting the CD for so many years... I love DiCola's music. Just noticed his full Rocky IV score was put to CD a couple years ago, and I'll be all over that shortly.

That's just a re-release of the original soundtrack album which mostly features the band songs but only a few DiCola tunes, plus some bonus tracks for the re-release. Cool though. :)

Intrada just released a full movie score remastered from the original sources. (They did a full Rocky IV soundtrack about a year ago which is excellent.) It looks to be just the movie score, so doesn't feature some of the unused tracks like Lighting Their Darkest Hour does ("Attack on the Shuttle", DiCola and Stan Bush's theme), but still exciting.

The Intrada release has almost all of the tracks from Lighting Their Darkest Hour. The Stan Bush version of the main theme is missing and the two short tracks that make up "Destruction of Moon Base 2 (parts 1&2)" are missing but it has the Legacy audition track. Some of the tracks from Lighting Their Darkest Hour have been consolidated into single tracks on the new release, so there are fewer tracks but it's pretty much the same material.

The quality isn't significantly different from Lighting Their Darkest Hour, as far as I could tell, which is a good thing.

It's a shame those were left off, and why he didn't include his stuff from the Protoform Sessions CD baffles me, that has some good stuff on there like the earlier version of Escape that was in the teaser trailer for the movie. Oh well.

Apparently, Artistic Transformations and The Protoform Sessions are still available on CD. I'm guessing that's why they weren't included in the Intrada release. The CDs can be found here: TDRSmusic Store (http://travisdickersonmusic.com/shop/)

Awesome, thanks for the link! I've been wanting Lighting Their Darkest Hour on CD for ages, and a lossless rip is the next best thing.

The new Intrada CD just arrived in the mail today. It indeed appears to have all but the tracks mentioned as missing—the Bush-sung theme and the two-part "Destruction of Moon Base Two". Unfortunate that these were left off, but it's still a wonderful soundtrack, and the consolidation and arrangement of tracks works a lot better here than on LTDH, I think. I'm just glad that "Attack on the Shuttle" (renamed "Space Attack") is still here, as I thought maybe all of the songs not in the movie wouldn't have made it.

I think the new CD sounds a lot better myself. Of course, I've only ever had 192kbps MP3s of LTDH to compare it to, but the Intrada mastering is more bassy and crisp, with dynamics intact. It's a much richer sound than previous releases, I'd say.

"Legacy" is a cool addition, but if "Main Title" and "Destruction of Moon Base Two (I & II)" were left off because of time constraints, I would have rather had those. But that's me—I already own a copy of The Protoform Sessions so its inclusion isn't particularly special to me. Admittedly however, it finishes off the soundtrack surprisingly well, sort of as an alternate end credits song, since "Their Darkest Hour" (renamed "The Fight Continues") is kind of a flat way to end an album. It feels good to have the upbeat beginning of "Legacy" suddenly kick in, and here it sounds better and less rigid (not so demo-y). So now that I've written that and thought it over, I'm kind of torn as to what I'd prefer having, ha ha. Maybe Intrada could clean up the left-out tracks and offer them for download.

By the way, the new Intrada CD totally includes "Destruction of Moon Base Two". Part one is at the end of "Destroy the Matrix", while the second part starts off "The Trial". It moves this two-part track way out of sequence from where it'd be in the film, but makes for a much more interesting listening, since Lighting Their Darkest Hour had all three moon destruction tracks back-to-back, each with fade-out, making it redundant and a bit tedious.

This leaves DiCola's rendition of the title theme sung by Stan Bush as the only song missing.

Also, DiCola just released a video game soundtrack and it's awesome:

https://scarletmoonrecords.bandcamp.com/album/saturday-morning-rpg-original-soundtrack

Sounds like classic DiCola but updated. I hope he makes a huge comeback and puts out plenty more music over the next few years.

There's also a Transformers medley he and Kenny Meriedeth did for Chris Huelsbeck's Turrican Soundtrack Anthology (disc 1) and it's...oh boy, it's so good.

With all this and the Vince DiCola CDs I picked up (from TDRS Music and their Bandcamp page), I'm drowning in synthy feel-good wonderment this weekend.
