Apparently AMANDA has gotten JESSIE to demand that I remove all of my links, and it appears that AMANDA will be doing this on ALL of my future posts and links, so I will NOT be posting any reups on any links. You can PM Amanda and Jessie and thank them both!

Yes, she is a sweetheart. I had the chance to meet her at her house up north of me, when a friend who worked at Knott's had hired her for the Halloween shows that she did! She had a really great lovely little house with a BIG backyard, and had a small bridge with a river running under it, right thru the middle of her backyard. Almost like a japanese gardener had created it for her. This was before she was married, and I really was impressed with all the special things about the house that she had done herself, like the bridge. I would have re-routed the water off of my property, but she was very creative and ego-conscience as well. They recently had a contest to find the new Elvira, and the girl who won was pretty good, but I don't think that anyone could replace Casandra!

William

You are indeed a very lucky man to have met her, I have read several articles about her, she does have a big heart and a very green thumb. Who every takes her place has some every big shoes to fill (among other things ;) , but for me Cassandra well always be Elvira. I have a copy of the Press Kit for "Mistress of the Dark" (pdf) and there was no mention of the painting in it...if you remember when she first walked into her Aunts home, on one of the walls is a full length painting of a beautiful red head! thats Cassandra!! As I understand it she is no longer married! but she could be again for all I know. Thank You again for sharing a Score to great movie....Scott

Indeed a fun movie and a fun score. I too had the pleasure of meeting Cassandra in a convention setting...Fangoria's Weekend of Horrors 1988 in LA. She did a 20 minute question & answer session in which I asked her something (don't recall what it was) but I do remember it was difficult to ask my question because the whole time she was giving the ultra-animated facial responses which made me want to laugh. After the session was over a panel member announced that miss Peterson has a prior engagement and will not be signing autographs. Of course I was one of the many fans who rushed towards the exit door hoping to get an autograph nonetheless and it worked out that she signed my photo before dashing out of the door...ah memories.

Well, Scott, I forgot to mention it, but that painting is in Casandra's house!!! It has a very prominant position in her living room, justifiably so. And, no, she is no longer married, and still not, as of this writing. She decided that since the burn scars on her upper chest (She got them when very young) are being so visible now as she gets older, that she would have to retire from her "Elvira" persona, but I think that nobody could ever be her. Even the girl that was chosen is more like a pale copy of the original, we can still appreciate a great performer when we see one!

William

I'm glade she has it, I would hate to think it was sitting in some warehouse rotting away. I bit Casandra has a hard time dating, me I would be so nervous to even ask her out...of course I'm not even in her league, hell I'm not even in the same ball park. I did not know she suffered burns at all! but who cares, we all (our should all know) there is more to a person then scares. I agree 100 percent she is a great performer and there well never be anyone but Casandra as Elvira.

Very Cool !!! Elvira took the mantle from Vampira but brought a sense of humor to her portrayal, Cassandra kept the legacy alive. The days of a Saturday late-nite movie horror host may be fading and it's strange that the role is now a franchise. Cassandra is a truly great performer and a class-act. Thanks for the amazing post !!!

One of the greatest cult movies of all time! Here is a bootleg score that I found on another soundtrack site!

Enjoy, William

To speak the truth, no, it wasn't gone. One just needed to replace the "server ID" in the URL with the usual "www.rapidshare"... Oh, thanks for the share from me, too :D

Just got a PM to reup this link. Thanks for all the great comments, people. I had a great time composing and orchestrating this score. She was really a great lady to work for, and I love the fact that my score got to be attached to a CULT classic like this movie. I wish that her second film hadn't bombed like it did, and I really wish that she would do another film (before it's too late, hehehehehe)

Thanks again, people, you do this old heart of mine good with all your positive comments.

William (James)

William, I had no idea that you composed and orchestrated the original Elvira movie score. Looking forward to you re-upping the link. I love Elvira!! Thank you! ;)

That is weird, considering James B. Campbell did the score. But he did say it was a replacement score, so.....

Well, just saying, since I asked him personally and he said it was a late replacement score. No clue whom the original composer was.

siras, there's no signature now.

Thanks a lot William :) This is really an extraordinary and outstanding score .....As composer James B. Campbell only wrote a few scores----- he mainly worked as orchestrator.....especially for Alan Silvestri :)

That ELVIRA'S HAUNTED HILLS score borrows an awful lot from David Whitaker's score from (as memory serves) DR JEKYLL AND SISTER HYDE, same melody, almost identical arrangement. Still a nice score, though!

E-mail, a few months ago. And his other film score -- also a replacement. I guess he didn't like the rush game and left film composing.

I've spoken with on the phone, through e-mail, and a handful of letters, hundreds (maybe about 300) composers, producers, directors, musicians, music editors, orchestrators, so forth.
Just a few months ago I got an e-mail from a known film composer whom accidently e-mailed me from his real e-mail; he meant to use a fake one. So, busted. ;-)
