Hi FFShrine.

I've been reading the forum for quite a while (much longer than this accunt exists) and I'am very thankful for all the sountracks that I could find here.

As a thank you I decided to post the soundtrack from Heroes of Might and Magic II. This is the same sountrack as the one that can be downloaded with the game on GOG. Yet, though the trakclist ist the same, this is not the actual GOG soundtack (as it is in mp3), but rather a lossless compilation of tracks that match the tracklisting on the aforementioned soundtrack.

Most of the tracks were ripped from the Price of Loyality, only the original Castle themes came from French version of HoMM2 which I found on a abandonware site (unfortunately my copy of Succession Wars came without audio tracks). Of course all the tracks are 100% lossless.
The archive also contains a cover art, dummy cue and accuraterip files (both created using CUETools)

The miditheme has been extracted directly from the game files in its original format and converted in Foobar2000 using Fluid Soundfont (http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/fluid-soundfont-gm)
I have also corrected the tags of the GOG soundtrack, making it consistent both internally and externally, eg. The great HoMM4 soundtrack.

I hope you will enjoy the soundtrack:

Hey, thanks for the upload. Did you rip the audio from the game? Because in that case, I'm sure the game replayed mp3 files found in the program's folder from installation.

All tracks except for #1 are rips from CDDA tracks, so mp3 here.

The #1 is concerted midi which I have extracted from the game's archive and then converted in foobar.

In other words, there are no reconversions from mp3 to flac, only pure lossless (which is the main reason for this post, the mp3s are available from GOG).

BTW, I'm thinking of releasing a midi->flac conversion of all game tracks. Different soundfonts make it sound differently and it sure would be a difference to already known soundtracks.

Ah, okay! :) It's good to see you love IV's soundtrack, my personal favourite! Let us know if you have any luck with the midi conversions, thanks! :D

Hi

I will deal with the midi files in near future. I plan to make them as midi->flac conversions using soundfonts and include original H2 music files -> midi files conversion and add them as a bonus so that anyone can listen to the orignal files.

I also plan to add a upload Heroes of Might and Magic 1 flac soundtrack which I already have on my HDD.

Still I have a question regarding this release. Does anyone on the forum have the original Succession Wars soundtrack? As I mentioned before, the original Succession Wars castle tracks does not originate from my H2 CD (for some reason, the edition I have, meaning SW+POL on two disc, does not feature CD Audio on SW) and, to be honest, I am pretty dissatisfied with the quality of their rip. The CD I've got them from was downloaded from the net and it has some glitches on those tracks. Still, this is probably the best quality of those tracks that can be found on the net.
Thus, nearing the end of this post, I would like to ask anyone who can make a better rip of those 6 tracks to upload them so that the overall quality of this soundtrack can be improved.

As promised, I am posting the midi version of this soundtrack.

Basically it is a direct conversion of the midi tracks found in game into Red Book Audio flac files. Again foobar 2000 and Fluid Soundfont were used for conversion.
In order to pad the files so that they are appropriate for CD and create a quesheet I used Cue Tools.

As a bonus you can find the same soundtrack in midi version - again, converted from the original game files.
I hope that you will enjo

Hi BalbinatorEdzy, thanks for uploading the tracks! However, since the multiupload website was taken down, the links are now dead.
Would you be able to re-upload the files at some point? This game holds some precious memories for me, and I would be ecstatic to have the tracks in my collection.

No problemo, I'll do that in the next two days.

I was thinking of reuploading this for quite some time as I've managed to obtain tracks from Succession Wars that have no flaws!
So if one has this soundtrack already, redownloading may still be a good idea.

BTW, I did not know they've closed Multiupload.

Thanks, and it's great news to hear you got the Succession Wars track!
I did not know that Multiupload was closed down until this post either. But given than Megaupload was taken down, this didn't come as a big surprise.

The track length for 5-10 will be a bit different since I've re-ripped them from different source. Now there shouldn't be any ticks or similar artifacts in them. They were ripped from Heroes All-Time Collection (Polish version), whereas all other tracks were ripped from Heroes 2 Price of Loyalty.

As far as the parts go: the first one has Succession Wars music, the other one is PoL town themes only.

Thanks for the work, Edzy. Do you possibly have this sort of compilation for HOMM3? I absolutely loved that game to death (good 500+ hours of playtime for me).

Honestly, I have the lossless wma tracks converted to flac (and padded afair to CD length AFAIR) that were available on a Heroes 1-5 complete edition of the game. Fortunately, these lossless wma tracks were sourced from a soundtrack CD that was realesed with SoD years ago. Unfortunately, it seems that the game mp3s served as the source for this CD.

But yeah, I have them :D

Lossy or not, I would love to hear the tracks from my favorite strategy game of all time. Would you mind sharing them?... :)
