Hello fellow audiophiles. I wanted to share this wonderful TV score with you from the under-appreciated series "Commander in Chief" starring Geena Davis. Some say this was nothing more than a copy of "The West Wing", but I disagree. It had great characters and engaging stories, not to mention Donald Sutherland as the antagonist! If it weren't for the backstage production troubles the series might still be around.

I just received the promotional CD from the composer Larry Groupe and have converted that straight off the disc into WAV format. I tried to see if I could provide it in FLAC, but I couldn't get the program to run properly on my laptop. I also created a special "Expanded Edition" for those who don't mind listening to mp3s. It contains additional music from other sources besides the soundtrack. There is only one track with sound effects, only because it's my favorite piece from the show. They are very minimal, and no dialogue. Also, the music is in roughly chronological order based on episodes in the series.

There were CD covers I found on the internet from another page that I am including in these Zip files. I modified the back cover to fit my expanded edition and it is also with that Zip file.

Please Enjoy! Be sure to respond with your thoughts. Likes? Dislikes?

Thanks! :)

This sounds interesting, but the MP3 file is only 35Mb?

OK, ripped at 128kbps.

Yea, unfortunately the music is not as much as I'd like it to be. I hate when CDs that can fit up to 78 minutes of music on them only have like half of that.

It's why I tried to include some extra music in the "Expanded Edition". It's a great score, and I wish there was more available.

Glad you didn't take my comments as criticism. It was just an observation. ;-)

Your comment is intriguing, Ruffneck. :-P

I really like the score and it's great to finally get it in lossless quality and hear some new stuff too.

Thanks for this Flac score route82. I haven't really watched the TV series or heard Groupes music before but it is certainly good stuff. Mackenzie's theme which he develops in other parts of the score is very catchy. Reminds me of William Ross.

You're welcome rollie! I highly recommend watching the TV series, it was really great. The characters (mostly Geena Davis) really made the show.

You can watch the entire 18 episode series here: Videos and Trailers: "Commander in Chief" (2005) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0429455/videogallery)

You're right too, the theme is very catchy :)

Yea, the show was starting to come along nicely, and I feel a second season would have really popped. Geena Davis opposite Donald Sutherland. Pure gold...

I agree! I was really looking forward to the upcoming election. I thought it would have been great idea for them to have Nathan Templeton fearing he could lose, so he picks a folksy talking woman governor from a backwater state... I always thought that it would have been perfect for them to chose Susan Sarandon for such a role and would have given the chance for her and Geena to work opposite each other again. I think they portrayed a good sense of the backroom deals stuff that happens too. There are those that say Templeton was unrealistic and far too manipulative and mean... but when you compare what he did to what politicians are doing today to our current president... it seems like child's play.

There are many shows on that list for sure... Firefly (FOX), The Class (CBS), The Sarah Connor Chronicles (FOX), Sliders (FOX), hmmmm I'm sensing a pattern here.
