So what we have here is the official soundtrack to Bioshock. Problem was, it was only released in vinyl! However, a kind fellow digitized it into flac from his record player and posted it in the Lossless thread. From there I decompressed into .wav, used clickRepair (http://www.clickrepair.net/) to fix all the snaps 'n pops, and then encoded into lame V0 mp3's.

Sounds pretty stinkin' good, and there are very, very few clicks/crackles remaining that couldn't be repaired. So enjoy!

I already have this but I think the clicks/crackles are there purposefully to give it that old feel.

doubt it, since it's not like that in-game

True it's not, but that's more to the point why the crackles are there, they've clearly been added for some artistic merit.
Though yeah as you've put the effort into this i'll save you the cognitive dissonance and agree!

I think eggs is right. They put them in there purposefully. Listen to the opening credit thing (in the game) where they show a vinyl disc player (I think its the 2k Boston screen). They have crackles in the sound there. That's probably what they were going for. Sorry I didn't describe that well. Its basically one of the screens they show when you first load up the game.

They didn't put the crackles in the game because they didn't want to ruin the music, but the game is based in the 1950's so I'm willing to bet that they added the pops and crackles to make the vinyl sound like it is from that era.

I have the vinyl thanks to Bioshock 2's collectors edition but I'd rather not open it
So thanks for causing me to keep them sealed for that much longer.
