Here's a sampler of the music from the first season, using the tracks pulled from Bear's blog, as well as two of the songs featured in the episodes. All of the songs are in chronological order from the episodes.

The track "wd105a" is also from Bear's blog post for the fifth episode, but there was no title or description for it. However, it was labeled to come before "Amy Resurrects", so that's how I numbered it.

Not much here, but I hope you enjoy it. As for as I know, the tracks for episode five haven't been widely shared yet.

EDIT: Re-upped!

Since the first season didn't feature as many new compositions as his past work did, McCreary decided to hold off on a release until after the end of season 2, so that they had enough decent and lengthy selections to choose from.

But, it definitely would be nice to have the full versions of the tracks NOW.

wow! that's a whole lot of zombie feast for me then...lol

i have listened to the tracks a few months back with the version from other blog & the track's were considerably short but had an action packed bang to it and yes a full score to this one is a must for me!

Another thing, i hope that the new season would not be limited to just about 6 or 7 episodes max...

Indeed, it will be a season of 12 episodes.

I thought it was 10? Most small cable channels struggle to afford more than that a season, the budget would be stretched too thin and 2 or more episodes would be below par because of it

Cool beans. I am grabbing it now, thanks. I have not seen he show, zombies are not my thing. Is his style for this similar to BG and Eureka?

I haven't listened to Eureka, but I wouldn't really compare this to Battlestar. The score for the Walking Dead is very minimalist. It's basically like most horror film scores, that kind of creepy background noise that gnaws at you for the duration of the film. I've only listened to the score a few times, but there's only a couple of tracks that I would define as "great". However, it's worth a download for those tracks alone. Keep an ear out for the main theme and "Mercy of the Living"

I don't really know about those things. But I checked some info to verify it: it won't have 12 episodes, but 13!

GrayEdwards

I wouldn't really call AMC a "small" cable channel, struggling to meet budget requirements. Not when it has Mad Men and Breaking Bad on its line-up.

Is the "mercy of the living" the actual full, appropriate version or is it just the clip from Bear's site that's on repeat for 5 minutes?

The track is indeed the same from Bear's blog, but it's not on repeat. The track is only about a minute long.

I can't wait for there to be a full release of this. Honestly Bear should just release the Walking Dead music by seasons. Season 1 can have it's own release, and Season 2 can have its' when the season is finished.

I'm worried that they're not going to do a COMPLETE score if they wait until Season 2 is finished, but pick and choose certain cues. I hope that the full scores for both seasons get released.

Nice work on the custom covers. ROBOT-EOS. I like the back especially. One minor quibble, on the front cover, part of me really wants to see that chunky title font that's on the poster. It's already become somewhat iconic to me, so the font you chose just seems kind of wrong. Still, very nice work.:)

Did anybody notice at the beginning of season 2 finale during the zombies montage the very distinctive rhythmic percussive music with dissonant banjo tunes? It's really striking how this sequence resembles some scenes with roaming zombies from Romero's Dawn of the Dead with the Goblin soundtrack... Or is it just me and I remember it wrong? It's really bothering me...

thank you for uploading this~ (including proper tags), it was only the other day i was going to get around to compiling the samples from his blog.
just a minor note; the majority of the samples are 192.

i wonder why they've not considered to release a soundtrack yet- whether it be because of money/rights, that there isn't enough content or variation to deem a release, or for some other reason. other shows he's worked on, such as sarah connor chronicles, and battlestar, received releases.

Looks like the link is messed up again.

Thanks a lot for the uploads! I really hope that there will be a CD (or several) with Bear McCreary's score. Until then, these uploads will be a real pleasure to listen to. Thank you all for all the work!

Ok. Just askinf because I don't keep track. There has been no official score release for this yet? I don't watch it (squeamish), but it is one of the biggest shows on right now. HOW has it not had a release?

Although it's been running for several years, the only release so far is from this month. It's called Original Soundtrack 1, with 'various artists'. It's less than half an hour and concentrates on songs heard in the series, not the actual score by Bear McCreary. I would think that he has composed more than enough for a score CD, so this is really strange. Maybe he'll release a limited edition after the series has finished? He seems to be planning something like that for Caprica, according to his website. The Caprica CD was score, but not a lot of the existing material was on it; so maybe we'll get more on this new CD.

I agree. It's a truly beautiful track and one that we can hear echoes of in cues the current third season. Fingers crossed that they announce a cd release soon.

did you guys join his official forum and voice your opinion on a CD release?
last he year he was asking everyone to voice themselves for a CD release and if enough interest was shown, the studios would think about it.

they still might like to hear from you.

It's all our fault we're not getting a score release.

Great idea. From what I've read, Bear McCreary really is interested in what his fans want. If the studio won't release a score, maybe Bear's own company might? Here's hoping...

bishbosh, you are incredible.

Thanks so much for this and every other file you've re-uploaded for me and everyone else on this forum so kindly.

I've been meaning to ask you: Do you keep all the original RAR files you download? You must have one hell of a library on your computer. Also, is there anything you DON'T download? ;-)

Anyway, just wanted to let you know your efforts are greatly appreciated. Much gratitude to you, sir.

Yes. It's the most economic use of space.

I don't download pop scores, or most shows, or video game music if the composer has no crossover to tv or film.

Also, I'm not into straight classical, but like Wimpel's "could have been film music" thread.

There are exceptions, but that is broadly it.

Hello bishtyboshty,
first of all thank you very much for re-uploading these tracks.
And since you're writing that you keep your original rar files, I wanted to ask if you happen to have the complete 'The Plan' and 'The Razor', both by Bear McCreary who also composes The Walking Dead? Unfortunately, the links for those two are dead and the original uploader doesn't reup on principle. I've got the official soundtrack, but there aren't nearly as many tracks as in these complete soundtracks. Flac would be perfect, but I'd be grateful for any version. It's quite possible you don't have these, but I guess it can't hurt to try and ask. In any case, thank you for re-upping Walking Dead.

This request comes under the heading of "Hi, what do you have that I might want" heading. If I had something I wanted to offer, then I would offer it in a thread.

If you want a file that is not currently active, then you should first post a re-upload request in the thread concerned. Then it is up to myself or anyone else to decide to offer (or not) a re-upload.

Some uploaders may refuse to re-upload, but may also prefer that others do not re-upload files for them... wimpel69 is an example of this.

I will ignore any PM's that come to me as "fishing expeditions".

Thanks a lot, Amanda, I will.
Regarding bishtyboshty: I did make requests for reups on both threads, so did others, without success. Since you seemed to like Bear McCreary and were kind enough to react to Cluckyou I thought it was worth a polite question. Maybe someone else will reup at some point. I find it such a pity that someone does all the work to get such complete soundtracks from the (French?) BluRay releases, and then it's all lost because links aren't updated. But that's just the way it is. Let's hope for an official CD release of both these and Walking Dead.

Yes, I saw your requests here...

Thread 80459

You asked for a re-up of the lossless link, which was posted in October 2012. I wasn't around from June 2012 til early 2013, so I didn't have that file.

Thread 80458

Same is true for this one too.

---------------------------------

JonC has many of these associated threads, and though I may have some of the files to re-upload from much earlier in time, I've seen how exasperated Jon can get with re-up requests and PM's; and I do not want to take all that on. You re-up one file and you get bombarded with requests for dozens of others.

Although we are a "community" here the vast majority of members never upload anything, which means that the burden falls on relatively few. I'm not complaining, just explaining why I'm selective about where I offer my assistance.

when somebody buy music at iTunes, there is personal information about buyer and that means the album is real iTunes purchase... not converted from FLAC\MP3 to AAC
but some buyers don't want to show their info (paranoia) and use programs to erase it.. like in this case so it's not perfect. if you find not scrubbed it will be great.
