Mr. Driller: Drill Land Gamerip (MP3 320 kbps)

All songs composed and arranged by Go Shiina
Genre: Jazz Fusion, Orchestral
Samples (youtube): Balance (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgpE6PMX_BY), I/O (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbsy0FtvN_c), Swordray (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXDCtfZpEQw)

There's already a “rip” of this game that can be downloaded from Galbadia Hotel, but the songs were all recorded externally on a computer so the sound is really muffled. Go Shiina is one of my favorite composers and I think this soundtrack is his best work (even better then Tales of Legendia and God Eater!), so until now it's been really disappointing that the only way to hear it has either been through low quality recordings or actually starting up the game.

If you're a fan of Shiina or quirky soundtracks in general (like Katamari Damacy), I highly recommend checking Drill Land's music out.

You can get the FLACs here (Thread 85820).
The FLAC files are exactly how the songs are in the game, ripped directly and uncompressed. However the way the songs were mastered makes them quiet with peaking drum hits, so for the MP3s I used a bit of amplification and hard-limiting (no more than -1~2 db) to make them better suited for listening.

Enjoy! :D

I love Go Shiina's Mr. Driller work, and he's certainly one of my favorite composers as well~.

Thanks, I love Shiina's work and didn't know about this... o_o

How come such a crafted soundtrack, with live instruments, never got a CD release ?!

Thanks for listening!

Namco has basically shelved Mr. Driller, sadly. The few games released since Drill Land are just ports thrown together for handhelds, and none of them feature new music.

I've asked Shiina myself about the possibility of an official soundtrack release in the future, but it's unlikely. :( Fortunately the music files in the game are very high quality!
