Might I recommend to all downloaders, track 19. The Vorpal Sword. From about 1.19, Alice's Hero theme and Little Alice's theme are played together, in a style and fashion reminding me of David Shire's score for Return to Oz.

"Dragons & Swords" was mostly material already released in the tracks "Going to Battle", "Final Confrontation" and "Blood of the Jabberwocky" anyway.... in terms of it being a bonus track on the DE/TB boxed set it really was a rip-off... IMHO anyway.

bookbinder3
06-21-2011, 11:11 PM
It's just not possible to edit it into the battle track without it being unlistenable, and even if I did, it still wouldn't be the comple cue, so I saw no point in it. Dragons and Swords is a re-edit aswell, it's not a complete section of score.

Yeah... I thought I was going to mix them together myself at one point, but I agree completely with your assessment, it just wouldn't flow and would ultimately sound terrible...

Oh! Yes, sorry... I have enjoyed it very much! The only thing I "altered" was to add Doors and The Parapet back in once put on my iPod. They don't flow (sound mix/volume level/editing etc) with your work, but will suffice for now! Regardless, This IS the AiW I play when wanting to enjoy it so thank you very much! Your hard work is appreciated :) The bonus/extended cues are a nice to have as well. Which reminds me, I also placed Um in Court before Bayard and The White Queen instead of after, as I think that's where it would in fact go... but I haven't popped the movie in to corroborate that yet either.

While I know this share combines the OST with the FYC Promo--and that it also contains material not included in the Burton/Elfman Music Box--I would be curious to know what just the promo consists of. Also, I know of at least one person who would get huge satisfaction from obtaining just the FYC promo by itself, without any other sources mixed in.

So, would anyone be capable of fulfilling this request? I know bookbinder3, himself, would be well able to...

Thanks a bunch for that, Sputnik! I don't see what would have been so hard for bookbinder to post a rundown like that. I was just going to point out that it's incorrect to assume that just because you know the music that you would be able to know what music came off of the promo version of the score. I mean, I know that the promo has to have some overlap with the OST and even with the Burton/Elfman Music Box, but I don't know where that overlap is because I don't have the promo.

So bookbinder3's edit combines all three sources, eh?

It could just be the Elfman box and the promo. The Elfman box and the OST are identical from tracks 1-24. I didn't want to list both on every track.

Ah, yes, you are right there. I forgot about that. On the topic of the Burton/Elfman stuff, how many of the albums actually have the tracks in film order? You know how all of the scores have the additional previously unreleased music on them? The majority of them just have that bonus music tacked on the end of the OST. The only one I know of that doesn't is Nightmare Before Christmas. (This isn't a pressing matter; I'm just making conversation :)).

Thanks for your response
What about Doors? Is this part of "Drink Me" in the expanded score?
The Parapet might me lower quality but for someone like me who doesn't have it, it is better low quality than nothing :)
Besides, I thought everything was 320 and not lossless, am i wrong?
I tried to start a kind of complete cue analysis thread but with no success. Have you done such exercises for other scores too?

bookbinder3
03-20-2012, 04:29 PM
Doors probably should be there. I'll see about uploading a full track from Proposal to entering Wonderland sometime soon.
I thought parapet would be available on another thread, those specialising in the Buron/Elfman box.
I posted my expansion in MP3 320. I edited in lossless.
I could put other scores into film order, but Alice is the only one I could expand.

Question: Where is this track heard in the film??
"Fairfarren, Alice" - OST 22

Just before the end the Hatter says to Alice: "Fairfarren, Alice" but I am not sure the music of this track is heard during that scene (actually I am almost sure it is not)

bookbinder3
05-17-2012, 01:17 AM
At the start of the track there is some of "the battle". It was edited together for the original album, and I didin't want to edit it again, or fade it in, so it is the end of the battle and then from 2.25 it is the music from the goodbye scene. The title was just to make the distinction clear.

No, it is not really like the OST. Here's the reason that bookbinder3 doesn't feel the need to upload the FYC score: the edit that he has posted here is a combination of the FYC version of the score and the OST version (or the OST as heard on the Burton/Elfman Music Box). So, if he uploaded the FYC by itself, we would not have anything more or less than what we got out of his edit. But for people who are after unaltered FYC promos, it's not about the content, it's about the fact that they want precisely what was submitted for consideration.

So, if he uploaded the FYC by itself, we would not have anything more or less than what we got out of his edit. But for people who are after unaltered FYC promos, it's not about the content, it's about the fact that they want precisely what was submitted for consideration.

Well, the reason I asked for a separate upload is because I'd rather download what I need, than take the extra time to download what I don't.

Question: Where is this track heard in the film??
"Fairfarren, Alice" - OST 22

Just before the end the Hatter says to Alice: "Fairfarren, Alice" but I am not sure the music of this track is heard during that scene (actually I am almost sure it is not)

Sorry to come up with this again but this score makes me crazy (and so much frustrated)...but still have some questions/notes

1. Is this track 'Fairfarren, Alice" a custom made track? Can you tell us which tracks you used from the Elfman/Burton box and the FYC promo? And is it finally listened to some part of the movie???
2. Still some cues are not released on any format (Elfman/Burton box, FYC promo or commercial release) e.g. if I am not wrong "Who ate my tarts" + another 7-8 small cues (planning to list them if anyone's interested)
3. The Battle! What a mess. Anyone managed to find the exact tracks and times this comes from (as heard in the film I mean) ???

I share your frustration. "Fairfarren, Alice" is a combination of the start of "Going to battle, part 3" from the promo album (that's up to about 2.26, which is a more complete version of this part of the cue, which was edited for the OST) and the rest is "Blood of the Jabberwocky" from the OST. To answer an earlier question, it is the music from the Hatter's goodbye to Alice, but, sadly is edited. That's whats on the OST.
Sadly there are several massive cues still missing, including a complete version of the battle, the moment where the hatter is chased by the red nights and throws Alice across the lake on his hat, and the hatter's story of the Jabberwocky attack on the white queen with the gorgeous closing with the hatter standing in the embers. I pray for the day a complete version of the score is released.

I have made a draft list of the missing cues but of course it is not perfect
If anyone wants to make comments or add more I am all ears. I am fed up with this score! I have watched the movie and listened to the score around 25 times!
They made the Elfman box but they left out several cues! Does this make any sense?

U1 "Did you steal my tarts'?
U2 Stayne: "Majesty, I have found the oraculum"
U3 Alice arrives where the Hatter has tea
U4 Stayne: "If you're hiding her you'll loose your heads"
U5 Stayne (leaving) :" You are all mad"
U6 Hatter: The best way to travel is by hat
U7 The Hatter tells the story of what the Red Queen has done
U8 The Hatter throws the hat (with Alice on it) across the lake
U9 The Battle (although I am not sure if it can be reconstructed with what we have already, probably not"

If "U9" as you've written it is the moment I think it is...it's on the Elfman/Burton soundtrack and my expanded editon. Track 17-"What is the Hatter with me?"
The rest of them are must haves. But alot of the cues we do have on the album have been edited considerably. Only really a complte archival album from the likes of LaLaLand or Intrada, as it's Disney, will do I think. It's such a wonderful score it should be released in full now.

I think you are right. Although the cue starts with Red Queen talking to Stayne about the King and finishes when the White Rabbit says "I know where the sword is"
The scene is around 3:30 min but the cue is only 2:16 (this confuses me a bit)
I removed U9 and U9 is now the battle
I doubt it will ever be released in full. Maybe Intrada with their special agreement with Disney. I will buy 3 copies!!!

I guess it's going to happen someday. They just released a complete, well, mostly complete version of Elfman's Planet of the Apes this year. So...2020? Maybe? That's not long...right?

It's an internal problem with Peeje's advert process. They'll realise it and correct things. Give it some time.

Thanks for sharing this, can't wait to hear all the different sources combined into one expanded treatment!
Wanted to share a cover for anyone interested. Made this back when the original soundtrack came out, didn't like the official cover with the Mad Hatter, so I basically copied the same design but with cooler Alice artwork. Doesn't currently have an "expanded soundtrack...." title on it, but should work. Enjoy!
