A soundtrack album to a japanese movie composed by Michiru Oshima (大島ミチル), featuring Zampoa solo in track 2 & 16 by Takamasa Segi (瀬木貴将)

It's my all time favorite of Oshima, still enjoy it very much after all this years. Im not sure but I guess what you guys enjoy Oshima's music is her bold and beautifully crafted orchestration, but this one is quite different, the scale was very minimal. It's calm, reminiscent, sorrowful and somehow hopeless... quite an exception to Oshima.

Released date: 05/08/1997

AAC@320k (89mb)

Came only just to listen to it.
This is just plain bliss for the ears.

Even through the Main Theme seems to repeat itself about 4 times in diffrent variations. And another one twice.
(Somehow this stucture reminds me a lot of Kawai's Gundam 00 Score. But still this one maintains variety, nonetheless.)

But never mind that, I instantly fell in love with the main theme (first track). This version is so way better then the orchestra version (which is already great). The only drawback is, that in exact that version it is so damn short. Aw.

But I sort disagree of this being "quite the exception". The Chevalier score alsore features quite some tracks with a lesser scale. Even the Nabari no Ou score has a (very) little handful of those among the majority of bolder orchestrations. But these seem indeed rather the very minority of her works.
Perhaps talking nonsense due to being intoxicated.

Still, love this. Totally.

Thanks.

I have the DVD to this tragic romance and the slow and sad but beautiful music really matches the film. The score was nominated for a Japanese Academy Award for Outstanding Achievement in 1998. Thanks for sharing micobear.

Incidentally the link to Michiru Ōshima - Cinema Music Best (2005) doesn't seem to work (maybe because of the recent hacking?), so I post the details here and urge you to grab it:
