Many many years ago I had a PSone demo disc that came free with a Pizza Hut meal; had like five or six game demos on it, real short and simple ones of course, lol. Well one was of FFVIII, and I've been trying my hardest to either find that demo somewhere online, or at least the music from it (it was better than what's actually in that scene of the game, IMO.) Well the scene itself is when SeeD is dispatched to Dollet to help resist against the Galbadian army. The scene is basically unchanged, 'scept all the characters are wearing their original outfits as opposed to SeeD uniforms. Rinoa is there as well in place of Selphie (annoying ditz anyhow), yet never utters a word. The music is far cooler than what they put in the finished game, IMO. It's been many years since I played this demo and the furthest I got in it was the mechanical spider fiend unleashed upon the party following their bout with Elvoret. I have no idea how far the demo goes because that's as far as I initially got. If anyone can show me where to download this demo online, or at least just point me to the MP3 of the music from this demo, I'd really appreciate it :)

I remember that demo - it was the original demo version of the game that was also available bundled with Brave Fencer Masashi, but only in the US (PAL territories missed out) when the game was only early in development.

As for the music used in the demo, the track called The Landing apparently was changed in the final game due to it allegedly being similar to the score for the Hollywood film The Rock in the demo version - whether this was true or not is anyone's guess, but either way Square decided it wasn't worth risking a lawsuit and so instructed Uematsu to alter The Landing to something much different.

Either way, someone posted the original demo version of The Landing in a link in the Game Music Download section along with a whole heap of other unreleased FFVII-X tracks ages ago, but sadly the link is long since defunct. However Corey, if you want, I think I have a copy of it somewhere on my system. ;)

Pshhhh I think I've heard the very composition in question, and the two sound nothing alike :-/ Freakin' overanalytical pricks! Can't express enough my love of the original 'Attack on Dollet' piece used! I would love it if you could send it to me :) Just PM me for a place to send it to, or if you can just do it right here :) I'd appreciate it Enk!
