Ok... I remember reading about a possible rumor of a 6th installment in this series a few years ago, but as I was searching around I found this link: Suikoden VI for Wii (http://www.wiisworld.com/wii-news/wii-suikoden-vi.html).

This is firmly in the rumor domain for now, but there's word that the next installment in the Suikoden series, Suikoden VI will be developed for Wii. Some details of this are said to appear in the next issue of Jump magazine.

The franchise is completely new to me, but apparently the games are of the RPG type, with turn-based combat action. The storyline makes use of 108 main characters and revolves around things like politics, corruption and mystical runes.

Published by Konami, the Suikoden series has previously limited itself to Sony's consoles. It's also critically acclaimed, particularly the first three games. If it does jump ship to Nintendo it'll be good news for everyone (well, almost everyone).

I love the Suikoden series... unfortunately never played the third game (as that was never released here in AUS.), so reading this has got me somewhat excited. True, this may just be a rumor (until more info becomes available), but perhaps the time is right for another Suikoden game, considering some of the latest offerings for both JRPG and WRPG gamers.

One thing which I have thought would be a great idea, is a Suikoden collection (games 1-5), as I have a feeling that a collection like that would garner a significant income for Konami, as the series does have a strong fanbase (just from my own observations that is).

Also, if this rumored sixth installment is indeed correct... this IS the reason I will get a Wii... as well as maybe Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn...

Anyway, what are your thoughts?

I've only played I & II, and Sukoden Tactics. And I've only finished the 1st one.

One of the best RPG Experiences Ever. I can't speak for the rest of the games.

But definitely it's probably one of the few RPG series that's worth our attention.

Suikoden Tactics (Also known as Rhapsodia) filled in some of the plotholes from Suikoden IV, as it was set prior and after the events of the fourth installment.

IV and Tactics were the weaker installments in this series... imo that is, but I agree with you topopoz. It's a series worth any RPG gamer's time and deserves a position in any gamer's game library.

The general rumors say the same, that IV and Tactics are the weaker games.

The ending of the 1st one almost made me weep. It's very touching.

The Storyline is flawless, and Suiko II was great from the little that I played.

Suiko Tactics was a great experience, the gameplay seemed pretty fun to me. I didn't understand shit about the story of that one for obvious reasons. But IMO it was good game from the little I know of it.

Yup... a lot of fans of this series, all agree on that.

I'm guessing you didn't get all 108 Stars of Destiny. To get the best ending in all Suikoden games, need to get all 108 Stars of Destiny.

To get those endings you need to get all the 108 Stars of Destiny.

Suikoden II is the best I've played... and some of the mini games were hilarious. I loved the 'Iron Chef' style mini game, when you have the Chef as part of your army.

Suikoden Tactics (Rhapsodia) on it's own, is a mediocre title just like Suikoden IV. However... (and even as I didn't like them, I've done this and it makes more sense with the story), play Suikoden IV and then play Suikoden Tactics directly afterwards. As they are both set within the same time period (about 150 years prior to Suikoden V, which is about 10 years or so before Suikoden), to get the whole story of either Suikoden IV or Suikoden Tactics, play the other.

They've actually already talked about a complete box set of the music: Konami Readying 25 Disc Suikoden Anniversary Soundtrack (http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/10/28/suikoden_anniversary_soundtrack/). Maybe they're testing the market to see if there'd be buyers for the games, too. So far, the box set hasn't come out because of a lack of pre-orders. :-\ I'd get it if I had a spare couple hundred bucks.

One of the best RPG Experiences Ever.

x2 I've love to see Suikoden VI released.

IV and Tactics were the weaker installments in this series... imo that is

I haven't played Tactics or Tierkreis, but I agree that IV is the weakest of the main series.

The ending of the 1st one almost made me weep. It's very touching.

That'll happen a lot more times if you get a chance to play the other games.

That's one of my favorite sidequests in any game. So much fun. :D

I love the Suikoden games, I, II, and V are my favorites. They kinda have their own distinct feel. I had to go back and play the first one again when I realized there are better endings available... I want to get my hands on Tierkreis too... ^^

It's a shame the minigames tailored off after Suikoden II. Not to say they weren't good... just, ho hum.

I do hope that Konami does make a Suikoden VI or (even better) release a Suikoden Collection with all 5 mainstream games especially here in Australia dammit, as I'm pretty sure it'd sell well.

I never played suikoden V, i've played 2 and 3 and loved them immensely though. Me and my friend almost chucked Suikoden 3 out the window due to it's super boring, super lame start, but when it got good, it got fucking good so thank god we didnt. Is V good? I havent played past 3 because people said 4 blew.

IV is... mediocre at best. To get the full story, need to play Suikoden Tactics (Rhapsodia) and import your Suikoden IV data. Even still.. it is the weakest of the series imo. V on the otherhand is a great game, and as well as Jeane and Viki returning, a familiar face from Suikoden II returns as well.

I've played suikoden 5.
My opinion:its way better than suikoden 4 and its slightly better than suikoden 1 in gameplay.
I don't think the characters are as good as in suikoden 1 and 2,and its quite slow as well.
The gameplay is all about using boats and ground attacks(Thank god) instead of only boats.
I really really liked that, because it added a new element of gameplay to it.I also think they increased the encounter rate in suikoden 5.

Suikoden 4:I got to the very end with all the characters in my roster, and i stopped playing out of boredom. Its the first time in gaming history, that i literally get to the very end and put the game down because it has nothing to offer for me.The world was far too small, and everything was squeezed in together, leaving it far too easy.

The hero looks like a girl, and i mean literally.

What is with those short shorts?
