Xenogears is great! Too bad the graphics weren't up to Final Fantasy standards, but who cares. Graphics don't make the game. Go Xenogears!

Haha yea man Xenogears is on my personal top 5 list of awesome games. I don't see why people think it's a bad thing that it was too long though. Hey at least I got my money's worth. BTW Krelian finished that walkthrough you're doin' yet?

This game is great! I've beat it before, but it was so long I don't remember much, not even the end, so I'm playing it again! Also, I plan to teach every person all of their deathblows. Fun stuff, ey?

This game isnt released in Europe so I had to import it for christmas and i can say i wasnt dissapointed, it's a really good game. Im just about to goto Solaris but im gonna learn more Deathblows first, some of my characters are way behind deathblow wise, especially Rico.

I used to be known as Krelian.....its kinda eerie seeing someone with a nick I used to use. Anyways, Xenogears was and still is an awesome game. My only complaint is that sometimes it goes from one fight right into another, and that kinda discourages people who arnt as good at it as others. But all around its an awesome game.

However.......IMO, Thief is better.

Hee, finally found a used froakin' copy of it! YAY, a winner is me! It's definately an oldie as far as graphic go, but my PS2 seems to make the resolution of the sprites and 3D models a bit clearer. Only played for a couple hours, but me am having loads of fun with this one! ;D

Yay i just completed it last night and i love that game just possibly my new favourite RPG. After rummaging around on the net i even have an idea of what the plot was about.

Shame they had to cut bits out i would have loved to see some of the gears they couldnt put in due to budget cuts.

I've played a demo for it before, the graphics are a bit sketchy, but other than that, it was way-cool! I have to get the actual game somtime soon...

Well, it's a great game, indeed;) .I like Mecha afterall.

Also, it has a long story which that's MY type ;) .

I havn't finished the game, but played quite far into it, and enjoyed it all. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it fairly soon.

I think we should revive this thread. Xenogears is the best RPG ever, hands down. I love how the Camera will pan and zoom in to create a suspenseful effect, and I love how the story is so in depth.

its #4 on my list, its so sweet but there are some times where its just talking and talking and talking for like an hour and then it freezes and you have to do the same thing over agen, but it was a sweet game, i'm stuck though.....

i forgot to mention the awsome graphics...the graphics kick @$$, i love old school 2D RPGs....like Suikoden,FFT, and Suikoden II(#2 on my top rpg list)

Im stuck on XENOGEARS AND its pissing me off the level ups take for fuckin ever damn...the fights in the game kick ass and shit the movie plays are kool the hole game is fun untill u get stuck....:alien:

It is definately a good game. But the onlything it really had that was top notch was the story. It is a very good game though. On my top 10 anyway. tell me where you are stuck and I might be able to help. I can remember when I got stuck....*thinks back and shudders*....THe game was kind of tough, but I have a little bit of experience to back me up. Getting the money to buy the stuff needed for the final battle took me atleast 5-6 hours, it is very hard to get a lot of money in that game. My game froze once in the beginning and never again thank God. Sme of those cut scenes can last an excess(forgot how to spell it:confused: ) of 1 and a hour hours, don't tell me you don't need a lot of patience for that game. I bought the game actually because I saw people talk about it in threads like this and got it after 6 or 7 months of searching. But get the game if you haven't played it, and pick it up and start playing it again if you gave up on it cuase your stuck or bored, it is to good of a game to pass up.:D

The fighting in the game is kool and all but sometimes i forget what the moves are becuase i get carryied or how ever u spell it? forgetting the moves sucks becuse i dont know what is what untill im dead like a bitch :alien:

xenogears is pretty awesome but dont go looking for a gamepro(magazine) review of this game...they dont know what the fuck they are talking about!!! they said the graphics were ugly(did they ever see the gear battles?)they basicaly said the story was confusing(maybe just a little...) and they said it was the biggest dissapointement from sqaure ever......whats up with that??i love xenogears. :cool:

i say fuck gamepro. This game totally rocked. The game kept me involved becaus eof the story. I kept playing it to see what would happen next, because you couldn't even guess....

Oh does anybody know that they are making a sequal to it for the PS2!!!!!!!!!! It's called Xenosaga and it's already out in Japan!

I can confirm that(Xenosaga is coming + Xenonosaga 2 )i live in Belgium and i have a movie trailer of X and X2 for my PS2 i bought it in a store so its not a lie.

Both titles have improved good graphics(but not like FFX)and made for PS2...but i think that its not from Square now but Namco(maybe a problem??)

Xenogears is #1 game on my list. The best plot ever, I didn't find it confusing at all (only stupid people can't follow the plot). The game was origionally banned in some places because of how it chalanges religion and stuff. But by far, I've never seen a matched plot, and i've never heard music that matched it, not even by Final Fantasy. Graphics wise, The only reason it's "crappy" to some is because they approached the game from the anime perspective before realtime cel shading was used. Even though the graphics are kinda grainy, I think it's nice to play a game where you can move the camera around at any angle. Of course, I kinda wish that at some parts of the game that they had more cut scenes (to replace the real time sequences with only text dialog). But I guess that would make them have to use more cds than they wanted.

I'm kinda scared about them continuing a Xenogears series under another company, that usually screws over the game unless they have a lot of the same people from the origional team, if the plot is deep enough I'd probably like it.

Well, as for what I've read on Xenosaga, although it is being published by a different company, the development team is nearly exactly the same as the creators of the original game. Me, I don't care what company makes it as long as its on par with the first.

I think it is the fifth, but no, he is not crazy. I can't wait until the game comes out in February. Aside from that, I think that xenogears is on my top 5 actually, I said ten eralier, but whatever. Xenosaga was developed by Monolith soft. a devision of Namco which consists mostly of former Square employes. ...oh and yes.. the game won't be released in europe ): anyway that doesn't reaaly matter since it probably wouldn't have had a 60hz switch anyhoo.

XenoGears is an awsome game. It is one of the best games I have and I have a lot of SquareSoft games such as Final Fantasy 4,5,6,7,9,X, Tactics,Brave Fencer Musashi, Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross and XenoGears.

I'm stuck in the first disc were you have to do the fight above water and then under water when Elhaym was hipnotized and attempted to destroy the Ygardisrail(I think thats how you spell it)
and she didn't know and just before you go to battle you meet her in the hospital room.

I can win the first battle but by the time I get to the second one my Gears HP and Oil are low so I get killed. Could you please tell me an easier way to win? :confused:

Yes, Xenogears is the fifth and Xenosaga is the 2nd. This has got to be the most underrated game on the market too, and it's extremely hard to find nowadays.

Ark: First of all, it's Yggdrasil, and I'm assuming you are speaking of the battle with Ramsus. You need to be pretty high on levels really, and really boosted up. If you have some Frame HPs, use them. Totally upgrade your gears, and use booster in the battles. If your fuel gets low, use charge whenever you can. Also, i fyou want to save on fuel, use Triangle attacks then your Atk Lvl 1's and 2's, that way, you're saving 20 pt.s of fuel per attack, and that goes a long way. Ramsus isn't that tough, and he's very defeatable, so use booster and strong attacks, and it should be quite easy.

I've just finished Xenogears, even after owning for five years.
When I first played it, the time period of my life was hectic so I only had time for FFVII. But in the last month I've restarted and finished it.

I'm/was pretty involved with the story and have answered many of my own initial questions, but still have a few.

I don't have my notepad I wrote them down in with me here, but I'll try and find it to EDIT questions in later.

What I was hoping for in the meantime, is that anyone who is quite familiar or knowledgable of this game could do me a huge favor and write a report of the story. As if a review of the story alone. Including names, events, mini-time line(s), off topic events that trigger story events and so forth. From beginning cinematic to end.

I feel that it is necessary to fully understand the story to get the most from the game itself.

Xenogears is a great game. First time I played it, it didnt give me a thing...but the more I played it, the more interesting it was.....the coolest character i think personally in Xenogears is Doc Citan, his moves and speed plus with his sword make him invincible when confronting enemies, besides i like Xenogears' storylines, it's a little bit religious but it's still cool somehow...
There are alot of theories and debates about Xenogears' storylines (esp for a non-native speaker like me whose mothertongue is not Eng), but i think all of them make the game more interesting........................

It's interesting that you mention 'religion' when discussing the Xenogears story.

In the end they made religion, or at least the belief in a higher power look silly and simply a tool or device to sway the masses.

Which is exactly what many people today believe 'it' is.

So unless you mean that their approach was almost sacreligious, then I can't see how even the mention of a diety is 'offensive' or awkward.

If you consider the strength and prowess of things like Summons and Guardian Forces from other RPG games, they more often then not seem to represent or be the shell of a diety.
