Not since the November 1st update last year for the gimmick that is the Kinect, has there been any problem with Xbox Live... until the recent update this weekend.

Apparently it's caused numerous grief with Xbox 360 owners with all sorts of problems being reported (unable to bridge console and PC; Constant Disconnection issues etc), though the main one for me: Unable to connect to Xbox Live. After running the Xbox Live Test Connection, as well as following all the possible solutions for rectifying this problem... still unable to connect to Xbox Live.

About 90% of the games I have for my Xbox 360, require Xbox Live connectivity. Games like Dragon Age/Mass Effect/Saints Row2/etc, which require either server connection (Mass Effect/Dragon Age) or Xbox Live connection to detect the DLC etc... this is somewhat annoying. Add in that I play FFXI, and being unable to play a game I pay a monthly subscription for is... frustrating me to no end.

I tried asking for help on the Xbox forums... but trying to find help there, is like finding a needle in a haystack. I guess this thread had two motivations to post: One: to vent my frustration (apologies) and Two: To see if anyone else here is having similar problems and have either had it fixed or are still experiencing the problem.

I haven't turned my 360 on in a couple weeks. I think I'll wait a couple more...

I'm heading back home tomorrow, where I'm sure I'll turn my xbox back on, if only for Netflix. I'll let ya know.

I guess all those PS3 crybabies who switched over to Xbox will finally realize that no console online service is perfect. It's going to crap out one way or another whether it be a technical problem or someone purposely hacking it. Hopefully MS will get on the ball with fixing the issue for you guys though.

Yeah but I'd much rather have a garbage online service than potential credit card fraud. PSN fucked up, plain and simple. The fact that thousands of people's personal information was leaked is wrong, especially considering most of that information is credit cards.

When things like this happen how quickly does Microsoft patch things up? Personally I would be pissed since X-Box Live is a paid service. I just hope when Nintendo releases their next-gen system, and if they have much better online service than the crap they have now, that they learn from Microsoft and Sony.

As for the PSN, at least credit card info wasn't taken. I wasn't too pissed off that the service was down for almost a month since I was either too sick to pick up a controller or in the hospital during it's down time. Sure, it sucks other personal data may have been taken, but I think most users should be ok.

With all the PSN outages being in the news lately, it was only a matter of time before Microsoft tripped up too. Seems the only decent way to play online these days is to play on PC haha.

Credit card info was taken. Like 2 million people's credit card info. You can't have possibly missed this in the news. It's everywhere.

Luckily I don't have a credit card as it didn't affect me. But lets be honest here, you can't really compare the PS3 and Xbox 360 as they both are similar and have flaws. Not everything is perfect. Its not the Playstation and Sony's fault as it is all the hackers. Whats the point in continue to battle over this when the hackers shouldn't even hack in the first place. That is the cheaters way of playing video games as they can't play by the rules. All in all, people need to stop complaining as they make seem like their life depends on video gaming when they need to grow up and just have fun and not take everything too seriously. I don't complain much about loss of online play is because I just got a PS3 a couple months ago and I don't have much games for it and online play on the games I have really lag. Can't we all just admit not everything is perfect and just not take everything serious as it will make the situation much worse if everyone cries over loss of online play. They didn't really have to use a credit card for anything as they could of bought some PSN cards since if they did, there wouldn't be any drama. Take it what it is worth, no one should take this too seriously when they could still play their games as that is very important about gaming is just gaming. It happens all the time, it is something that everyone can't control. Hacking is illegal. Reason for me not having a credit card is because I am autistic and can't use a credit card at all.

Yes, 2 million credit card numbers taken from Sony Online Entertainment, not the PlayStation Network.

My 360 isn't on XBL.

I only get updates via game releases so...heh.

I used to get updates like that on xbox 360 until I got the red rings of death.

I've got 2, the one I'm using currently is a bit old but it was pretty much free and it's flash so if I get the 'dreaded' RRoD I don't really care.

I've never been able to bridge my 360 with my Media Center PC. It would get all the way to the final stage then time out.

The update is out? I've been checking for this new update all week and my 360 has never received it. On the other hand, my PS3 received an update, which turned out to be relatively useless since I was still unable to get onto PSN after the update.

I didn't even know of a update until I checked the Xbox Forums and saw all the complaints there about it. The November 1st update for kinect screwed my console to the point I was unable to go online for a month. Meh... no big loss, as it'll be back when it's back. Just gives me time to work on other games I've neglected.

Just checked on my 360 and the update finally got found and downloaded.

Hmmm... Try deleting your profile from the 360, then try to recover the gamertag? Might be worth a try. Maybe the profile is messed up.

Edit: Ironic... After the update, I'm now able to stream music from my Media Center PC...

I've got two profiles, however I did try to recover my gamertag. Unfortunately, as I can't even connect online to Xbox Live, the 'Recover Gamertag' function didn't work. I did all the troubleshooting etc on Xbox's Support, as well as other options. Finally, calling Xbox Support, talked to someone there and explained the problem... I have to send my console in for repairs. TBH, I kinda expected that to happen...

Still... I wanted to take a break from some online games I was playing, so this forced hiatus came at a good time.

Again? The only problem I've had with XBL is when they turned all their shit white and started using Wii sounds. But you live in a different country. You sure the ones experiencing these problems aren't in the same boat because this is the first I've heard of any of this.

Go check out the Xbox Forums IDX, in the support forum section. A lot of people there are having similar problems or other problems due to the recent update.
