Basically looking for the kind of tracks that can get you lost in your own mind. Tracks that you can set on loop and a half hour later you never realized where the end was. I find it useful when I work on my writing and I'd be appreciative if anyone could help me find more stuff :) I don't care what they're from (ie games, movies, tv).

Here are some examples of what I can think of at the moment that I've used before, but they're not exactly what I want but something like it.

上妻宏光 Agatsuma - A paper in the air from Beyond (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ec35duqxWsg)

YouTube - ‪Cowboy Bebop OST 1 - Space Lion‬‏ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKnVaDwUg5s)

Or stuff like the music from the Monster series ost
YouTube - ‪MONSTER soundtrack - ''Angel Hand''‬‏ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ir6_8HRfA8)

I'll take a shot here. What about "China Gates" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sV0JFg0xlF0) by John Adams? Is that sorta what you're looking for?

Hi Arthur ^___^ It's nice but doesn't quite suit my style. Here's some other things that we've been pondering in the STS thread...

http://forums.ffshrine.org/f2/dr-strangethread-how-i-learned-stop-worrying-66560/1829.html

My style is kind of complicated.... It varies for whatever I'm writing But for the project I've been working on for the past few years, I usually sit in the dark and listen to something that I can feel strange to...... Hard to explain but the story I'm writing kind of calls for the trip factor when I type it out. Well I do that for the dark parts of the story. I still have yet to figure the majority of details and characters, but I know major plot points I want.

So basically things like these...
YouTube - ‪Zen Garden - Tangerine Dream - Datenverarbeiter Video‬‏ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0xEI3pJahA)
YouTube - ‪Descent 2 Soundtrack - Redbook Audio Track 10‬‏ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WQvivND6Ck)
YouTube - ‪Silent Hill 2 OST - Overdose Delusion‬‏ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxrDCLrd89w)
YouTube - ‪"For You" - Michael Whalen‬‏ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sd75q34wGuo)

Stuff kind of along those lines. Something that I can feel strange to.

Here's an M3U playlist of all the ambient/minimalist/gay hippie new age stations I listen to; http://doctormowinckel.com/boogers/minimalist.m3u Sounds like they play exactly what you're after.

Drone Zone, Nirvana Meditation Radio, Cryosleep and Dark Ambient Radio are the best offerings.

Steve Roach has some great drone stuff; YouTube - ‪Steve Roach - Structures From Silence (excerpt) Get to Sleep Quick! Relaxation, Stress-Free Music‬‏ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8siLR1jltM)

Brian Eno is the biggest pioneer of procedural music; YouTube - ‪Brian Eno - Thursday Afternoon‬‏ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UDA_bAlu00)

Liquid Mind has good stuff to tune out to; YouTube - ‪Liquid Mind - Night Light‬‏ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5VzYAPBVJc)

Darshan Ambient makes for good passive listening; YouTube - ‪Darshan Ambient - The Furniture of Time‬‏ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KO57kruiZ0o)

If you want something a bit more abrasive, Between Interval is a really good choice for dark ambient; YouTube - ‪Between Interval, Field And Void‬‏ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASlXewFyT08)

And if you're a crazy person, Iridials and numbers stations make for good background noise;
YouTube - ‪The Wall / Conet Project - Numbers Station‬‏ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVqaoxxsN7Q)
YouTube - ‪The Conet Project - Cherry Ripe Iridial‬‏ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcJK56Ep5Rw)
YouTube - ‪The Backwards Music Station (Number Station)‬‏ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgF9ZlI_R-8)

You can download a bunch of Iridal and number stations recordings via The Conet Project; Irdial-Discs A212 Version 2 (http://irdial.hyperreal.org/) (lots of links there, do a Ctrl+F for The Conet Project, there are links to the right of it listed 'CD1', 'CD2', etcetera, click those and I'm sure you can figure out the rest).

I listen to a lot of ambient and minimalist music. The radio stations I linked you to are good outlets, and the artists I've linked in this post are really good examples of their genres, too.

I haven't forgotten, in case you're wondering.

I'm slowly compiling some tracks to help me with my writing, so I'll share when it's done in a week or less. From what I've heard that you liked, it's fairly similar. :)

Nice to see Brian Eno mentioned. I personally like Cocteau Twins very much... There's a lot of ethereal music on their label, 4AD, as well!

What kind of writings are you doing? It always helps me when I match my work with music that would connect with it. I've been listening to Kammarheit with my project I'm working on.
