Welcome to my Final Fantasy Character knockout game! I have 135 characters, from Final Fantasy I to Final Fantasy XIV, and Final Fantasy Tactics all meshed in and spat out to form battles. There's 9 characters from each game and who will be victorious? You decide! (This is very cheesy I know... :p)

Here's the rules:

1. To vote, simply check who is going against who and reply with your favourite character in each roundup, preferably in a column format.
2. When a round finishes, if there are any tiebreakers, I'll post them up at the end. Tiebreakers are to be decided by listing them, and asking the question again about who is their favourite, the first response wins the tiebreak (eg. if the tiebreaker was Kefka vs Cloud, and the first poster to respond chooses Kefka, Kefka goes through to the next round).
3. Round 1 has 64 fights to it. Because 135 doesn't work into 64, there are 7 battles where there are three characters who will fight for the place in Round 2.
4. All these battles are chosen randomly, I've used a simple Excel spreadsheet and the "Rand" formula to help me make it fair and square. The only exceptions I've made is that there's no two characters from the same game going against eachother. I'm going to try and keep characters from the same games apart for as long as possible, although that may get difficult later.
5. I'll keep these rounds open for around 6 days it depends on the reception, this forum can go slowly sometimes so we'll see.
6. Because Round 1 has 64 battles, I'll split it into four sections (so you'll see 16 battles today, 16 in the next update etc). Round 2 will have 32 battles and I'll split that into two sections. Round 3 onwards will be posted in the complete forms.
7. Don't take this seriously, it's just a bit of fun. By all means debate why you love or hate certain characters, just be respectful of other's feelings of those same characters.

I'm not going to go into any details as things can change with more votes but as things stand, no FF XIV characters will make it into Round 2, and the worst off there afterwards may be actually FF Tactics and FF1, who at the moment have 1 person going through from each game.

The best off game is FF8, with only 1 character losing their current battle, therefore possibly 8 characters remaining to go into Round 2.

But! Things can change. :)

True.. but after running around Windurst/Sarutabaruta etc for that manical puffball of hot air that is Shantotto... I've always wanted to kick her into a wood chipper and laugh! Big news from Round 2
FF6 started off with 6 characters remaining and all 6 characters all won their battles for Round 3.
A huge shock of Round 2 saw all 5 characters from FF3 eliminated for Round 3. Also, Sazh, the sole survivor from FF13 going into Round 2, lost his battle. FF3, FF13 and FF14 have no characters remaining in the game.
The biggest shock of the round really was FF5, a great Round 1 saw 7 characters go through to the second round, only for 6 characters to lose their respective battles. Only 1 FF5 character remains in Round 3, that�s Exdeath.

Big news from Round 3
FF6 took a huge step forward in their dominance over the knockout game with all six characters that entered Round 3 getting into the last 16. They now take 6 of the 8 games in Round 4!

The biggest drop was all 3 characters from FF2 losing their respective battles. They join FF5, FF12, FF1, FF11 and FFTactics in the exodus. Only 6 games are now being represented from the original fifteen that started.

Big news from Round 4
FF6's dominance from Rounds 2 and 3 completely disintegrated before us when 5 of their 6 battles were lost. FF9 is the new leader of the pack, with all three characters from Round 3 winning their battles.

Cloud, posterboy of FF7, lost his battle against Shadow, who is the last FF6 character remaining. Sephiroth remains in the mix, as he won his battle against Terra. Another popular character in Kefka lost his battle against FF8 main character Squall. Beatrix is the sole female survivor for Round 5.

The main news in Round 4 for me was that all EIGHT battles were tight, before EnanoMaldito came in and gave his votes, SIX battles were drawing, and the other two were seperated by two points. In the end all eight battles were won by one point, all the games ended 5-4 to the respective winners.

Tough choice to make, almost like choosing which of your two best friends you preferr. In the end though I think it would have to be the Gunblade toting loner that gets my vote.
I had a hunch that he would win in the end- though I didn't think Sephiroth would get this far, so I'm pleasently surprised.

Whoever drew this picture is a genius. It's like they knew exactly what's in my head- THESE TWO ROCK! Anyways, it's great to see the two best characters in the FF series battle it out, a protagonist with issues and an antagonist with a god complex. Brilliant!

Now the hard part- choosing between them. (I agree with Alm�r on that!)

For me it would have to be The One-Winged Angel. He was the one that captured my interest from the start as he is definitely the best antagonist of all. With a sensational theme music, voice and presence, this villian is a pure win!

All hail Sephiroth eh?- Damn right! (and if that makes me a "Sephie whore" fine. Frankly I couldn't give a damn! ^^)

I'm sorry Gal, but I'm going to have to vote with Almir on this one - I much prefer Squall over the 'four-time loser' any day. Sephy is just too cliched now - even Kefka thought so: "Ha! Just another sadist with a God complex! As if that's anything original!"

Not to mention he is kind of handicapped by be being.. well.. you know... dead. But then, I have an Aeris crush so I'm one to talk. :p

tough one for sure! I mean Squall was surely an amazing character, a bit annoying at times, but he got the attention of Rinoa so I respect him for that lol
On the other side Sephiroth is probably the best antagonist I've seen (talking only about FF VII itself, or include CC), I know he's been too used by now, and that's not good for him. But that desn't take away the fact that he was the high point of an FF I didn't really like overall. He definitely is the best antagonist in a FF (after the almighty Kuja of course!). I know people will rage here because of Kefka, but dunno, I liked Sephiroth and Kuja better, Kefka is a 3rd! :P

So yeah my vote goes to Sephiroth. btw, the cinematic in CC of the battle between Sephiroth vs Angeal and Genesis is just epic.
