This could potentially be a VERY difficult search...but I am very certain it is out there in one form or another...

I have heard this tune (or one like it) in a few Columbo episodes/films and (I think) perhaps an original series Star Trek episode as well.

I am NOT looking for the special theme used as an intro and recurring tune in this story, however, I am seeking the song that almost sounds like an adventurous hunting kind of tune. It plays during the scene where Ray Milland is handing the briefcase with the ransom money to the man with the stocking mask. Starts at about 32 minutes into the episode.

Any help with finding this music would be GREATLY appreciated!

Searching for that too my friend! But there is only one way to get it, ripping the theme from the series. I think it is the only way to get it cause there was not any official release of the soundtrack.

It appears in a few other Columbos from the same era...hard to say which'd be better to try and extract it without a bunch of other sound effects. If the official release of the season 1 soundtrack is any indication, there are likely NO recordings available of JUST the music, even in the film archives. :-(

@RUS98 That IS a great link...though the FileFactory site seems glitchy and I'm having problems downloading more than one of the files (not simultaneously, mind you...I know better). (Season 4 has since worked but Season 3 keeps giving me problems)

However, from what I saw of the Season 2 effort on that linked thread...it will probably not contain the specific "incidental music" that I've been hoping to find. It's nice to have mp3 versions of the starting and ending themes...but the search continues for the other music used.

I still greatly appreciate the link and hope to eventually find my way to trying one or two of the others on that thread...

Yeah, the same problem happens with me! I was searching music from Columbo's 2nd episode from 1st season, Murder by a book, what appears when the assassin prepares to leave the homicide scene. But I've didn't find that too!!! Anyway, as you've said, still searching, so, the search continues...

There is a Season 1 official soundtrack release and I'm pretty sure I found it on this site. It has every bit of music from every episode of the first season...unfortunately, it also has the speech and sound effects heard when the music is played in the scenes. Murder By The Book is a personal favourite of mine for the music (second only to Ransom for a Dead Man) and the story in general.

In fact, I loved all 3 of Jack Cassidy's appearances in Columbo and wish he had done more. (same with McGoohan)
