great post , but any chance of an MP3 version ?

KaFaraqGatri
04-24-2011, 01:39 AM
Sorry, no. Just convert the FLACs to MP3 - for one, the FLAC group gives you a free converter and that way you can choose the settings and bitrate. Whatever format I choose, its likely someone would want a different version. And besides, who would want a lossy version when they can have a lossless one? :D

thanks a lot tak! The effort put into this seems borderline insane! (not a bad thing at all lol) can't wait to grab a listen. Surely this will hold us all over until that 3 disc version somehow leaks.

great work!

I have to give you an A+ for your hard work and effort, Takehiro. Your expanded edition of Batman Begins keeps getting better. The 2-disc FLAC version isn't that bad at all. Whether it's mp3 or FLAC, you just keep up the most outstanding work. BTW, thanks for sharing your exclusively expanded version.

Thanks a lot!! and I was just wondering, if this one is better than the 2009 version (especially the medley suite, as Arial said the 2009 one was far better than the one in the batman begins 2 cd expanded score you uploaded (and which wasn't yours)

You are right about that logo but it was used at the time the movie was released, and I used it to keep the art consistent with the covers made by Arial.

Just listened to the full album. Takehiro, you have done a awesome job of putting this together, you must have put some hours of dedication and frustration into it. but i have to say the work you have produced has paid off. by the way track 7 (Batman Rescues Rachel/Final Confrontation/Hero Theme) is awesome, much better than previous expanded version, a few seconds of average sound quality wont hurt anyone, and if it does your not going to find a cleaner version of it than this, i can assure you.

What stands out here is that many of the unreleased music sounds very much like the music that was eventually also used (and released!) for The Dark Knight. Many cues are virtually the same only with slightly different/added orchestration. Anyone else notice this as well?

KaFaraqGatri
04-26-2011, 09:42 PM
They did temp TDK with BB but Zimmer realised they needed something... more. So I guess they rejigged some of the music and then composed new stuff.

Whats wrong with it?

JHFan
04-27-2011, 12:07 AM
I think TDK is the better score simply because of the overall performance. Zimmer's sound is so distinctive, essentially overdubbing or enhancing the live orchestra with electronics. TDK basically lacked that and benefited from that fuller, more organic sound. And while it wasn't purely orchestral, it was much more so than his usual action scores, Batman Begins included.

the very end of the track gets quietly then ends loud for a second, then stops... am I missing something? lol

It dips when the smoke grenade goes off and it cuts to the buses leaving the bank. At that point the music fades back in. Listen to it in the film and it dips.

I was hoping you would do this to go with your definitive version of TDK. As always you do not disappoint!

Welp, I deleted it and downloaded it again... this time it opened up and extracted immediately after entering the pass.
Maybe I had a power surge or something while it was downloading the first time? A glitch nonetheless, it's there and ready for me to check out now! Thanks Takehiro, I can't wait to listen to your work!

GrayEdwards

So, I gave the score a once-over, and while I appreciate the effort, there were quite a few portions of the score missing, which I assume is due to those scenes containing far too much SFX to edit out. And I actually did hear some SFX during Batman's first encounter with the Scarecrow (which I believe was the track "Batman on Fire").

Also, there were times when I was listening to this expanded edition where I felt that cues were misplaced, were sequenced in the wrong order. There were several times (which I believe all happened on the second disc) where I thought I was hearing cues that belonged later on in the film (such as hearing the main Batman theme during the film score, when in actuality it only appeared in full during the end credits).

Again, I thank you for putting so much work into this, but personally, I still prefer Chief Dundee's (although I think I will combine both of them, if possible, as to eliminate as much of the SFX in his edition).

Here's hoping we'll get an "official" complete score soon.

KaFaraqGatri
05-03-2011, 07:32 PM
I worked from the recording sessions cue sheets, so I can confirm they are in the right order. Batman on Fire by nature contains some weird sound effects as part of the music. If you read the OP you will see I explained the train bit :)

I also had a once-through and really enjoyed it! I am however wondering why you omitted Tadarida (03:48-05:06), which underscores the scene in which the Microwave Emitter is stolen. Short of that, it was great! Thanks so much for your hard work.

I found it, it's still attached to "Batman on Fire" (per the OST). It should go either before or after Track 18 on Disc 1... not sure where without watching the film, but somewhere in there. Thanks again for this version of the BB score! Where you got some of those cues without F/X ("Monastery" and "Wayne Enterprises" for example) is beyond me, but it's greatly appreciated!

When you see a little box in the post that says "spoiler", click that, and the box will expand and reveal hidden or "spoilered" material.

The 3 cd sessions are lost to time, but i still have an active link, I think. (oooo..rhyme ). Do you want lossless or mp3 320? I **may** still have either...

twfsmith
12-07-2011, 03:11 AM
My crash course in audio file education today would lead me to indicate lossless is the way to go, however, I still am not knowledgeable and techno saavy to use lossless files other than to convert them to mp3 files. So, until I learn some more, I just assume to cut out the middle process and go with mp3. By the way, this forum and everybody here is great!
