Final Fantasy fans, what generation of FFs games is the best to you?

Final Fantasy thru Final Fantasy III
Final Fantasy IV thru Final Fantasy VI
Final Fantasy VII thru Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy X thru Final Fantasy XII
Final Fantasy XIII and other current FFs

Let me know if I got the generations wrong. I was unsure whether or not FF1-FF3 were on the same system.

For me it has to be the FFIV-VI generation hands down. On the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, which is one of my personal favorite consoles, the stories for these three games was superb, and even now have stood the passage of time very well.

Can't really say. I like ones from each of those generations.

I, VI, VIII, XII, XIII

I liked one or more from each generation as well.

The Final Fantasy series is extremely well-known and is at the top of the JRPG charts and probably just the RPG charts too. Each Final Fantasy game is different in it's own way, some are for certain people while other ones are for other people. Each one pretty much tries a different gameplay element, some for good, some for worse.

+ Stays true to the character and environment development.
+ Gripping and strong storyline/plot, like always.
+ Beautiful scenery, graphics, textures, effects and cut-scenes.
+ Stunning main-character designs.
+ Top-notch quality soundtrack.
+ Entertaining gameplay.
+ Lots of content with hours of gameplay.

It's really hard to choose between Generation IV-VI and Generation VII-IX. Each of them has two great games and one weak game (IV and VI - great; V - good but weak; VII and IX - Great; VIII - good but weak).

I think I'm gonna go with IV-VI. VII-IX are equally great games, but the one thing that puts IV-VI over is added nostalgia value.

None. Each of them have their ups and downs...

But the last 2 generation are arguably the worst ones.

Whilst I am nostalgic when it comes to FFVI, and I liked FFIV, FFV was a serious let-down. I love FFVIII and I liked FFIX. I haven't played FFVII but I love Crisis Core and Advent Children so VII-IX wins.

This was very difficult.. I loved IV, I never played V, but VI was one of my all time favorites. VII, VIII, IX are all quite awesome. Ranging from really, really, really good to f*cking awesome!.

So VII-IX wins-ish, but that could change really quickly when I've finally played V
