sorry, my bad for skim reading

LHX Attack Chopper is a helicopter combat flight sim, very advanced for its time. it had the same graphics as Virtua Racing, and unlike the strike series, you could view the action through the pilots eyes, as well as different views, like missle view (watch it slam into the side of a tank) chase view, and cinematic revolving view etc etc. you also had the choice of two helicoptors, a prototype LHX (Light Helicoptor eXperimental :eye: ) and an Apache Gunship. AH-64, i think thats it. you flew missions over Libya, Russia, Middle East etc etc. Like the flight sims on the PC, each mission had just one task, not like the strike series. it wasnt just eye candy, it was a fantastic, in depth game. you, the pilot, could even suffer wounds (and get awarded the purple heart) and the helicoptor took realistic damage, especially when you turn the difficulty up. i'll look for a link, and you can try google or something if you wanna know more.

damn, that was almost a review :eye:

this was the best link i could find, but, its still pretty crappy:

thanks for the info. I had already started looking for stuff on it as soon as I asked you, though all I found out was that it appears to be a port from a PC game, which makes sense given your explanation. If its still worth a play now I'll look it up~

Hah! I love the fact that Hyper Zone made the list, and not R-type. Stick R-type in there now. =)

Sonic Spinball was one of my favorite Genesis games. I suppose it would be classified as a puzzle/strategy? It's pinball, but with sonic, so yeah. Better (though shorter) than most of the actual Sonic series games, from my experience.

I'll probably post again here later. Those are just the 2 things that popped out at me immediately.

And I thought my NES collection was big, those lists simply dwarf my puny gaming corner. Have you actually played all those games? If so wow, just wow. Anyway on to the question, I'd have to say Genesis above SNES simply because of the Ecco series, I just have too many fond memories of that game back in middle school.

Dl. . .I compiled the SNES list.

NO R-TYPES.

Sonic Spinball though. . I'll throw that in. Other people didn't seem to like it, but I thought it was fun.

Durendal, I've played all of the SNES games that aren't marked with *'s. * games are put in because of the huge amount of positive comments I heard about them. My "games I need to buy" list. In order to own Gourmet Sentai Barayarou and Rendering Ranger, it'd cost me around $300. I won't be playing those for a while. =\

Keke, what a spoony list it shall remain, then! At least Axelay's in there, but the mere absence of R-Type really sets the SNES list back a generation or two. ;_;

You forgot Fire Shark for the Genesis. How could you??? The music and game itself rocked for its time. In case you didn't know, you fly in a plane shooting things for the game. All in all it's great though.

Greetings.

I noticed in your list you didn't include in the SNES listing the following : Breath of Fire II, Zelda : A link to the past, Super Star Wars, Super Empire Strikes Back, Super Return of the Jedi, The Lost Vikings, Cybernator and Drakkhen. And the Megadrive (Genesis) listing : Chakan : The forever man, Dune : Battle for Arrakis. However, I'm glad Alissa Dragoon made the list (I was hunting for ages for the game, and finally got a mint copy of it off of eBay.).

In any event, both the SNES and Megadrive (Genesis) are great consoles, as they have a wide and diverse rage of games, pratically guaranteeing that you'll find at the very least one game per console you'll love.

hey. I remembered Cybernator and Zelda(I called it Zelda 3) and Chakan is in the list as well. Shouldn't have forgotten Lost Vikings or Drakkhen though I'm not much of a fan of BOF before part 4. Will add those along with Dune. thanks.

Jimmy Whites Whirlwind Snooker for Genesis?

and what about Zero Tolerance? (slap me if im skim reading again).

General Chaos?

all three for Genesis (however, i think Snooker was also for PC, so probably wont count, am i right?)

hey, you're right about the PC games. They're usually better there, so you'd point people to that version instead of the console one. I'll probably remove the LHX game too, though dune can stay, simply because the genny is really light on those sort of games. (ah! I saw that LHX game at gamestop today for a pittance. Will certainly pick it up later this week once the paypal transfer comes through. I left a few games behind there.=\)

Thats also why certain games like Street Fighter and Captain Commando don't make the cut. They have better versions on playstation or saturn.Well, Fighting games aren't on the list at all as they've been dwarfed in quality so much by games in recent years, whereas the others still hold their own quite well.

slaps Baldric

General Chaos is on the list.

Zero tolerance? i don't know how well old FPS's hold up now, but its not a genre I'm interested in much, so I won't be critical. up it goes.

Keke, what a spoony list it shall remain, then!

what do you mean? I remembered UN Squadron. :)

You forgot Fire Shark for the Genesis. How could you???

This was a Toaplan game, a fairly popular company, but I've seen their genny shmups slated a few times. My guess is it was left off on purpose. =\

*rubs cheeks* sorry, my skim reading ways will be my downfall.

what about Soleil? it was a cute little RPG based around the Tower of Babel myth. it wasnt ground breaking, but it was good to play.

personally i prefer the SNES, im not really into current Nintendo stuff but i did love the SNES.
As for the Genesis...so so...i havnt played on them much, i never really like Sega much, i had a Dreamcast for a while but needed some cash, it was unfortunatly the first thing to go, goddamn Shenmue was good..............

i've took a look at this list (especially the genesis one), one important SEGA mascott game (the most funky game ever of its 16bit console) is missing:

Toe Jam & Earl
Toe Jam & Earl 2 - Panic on Funkotron

you may add those too :
Wonder Boy 5: Wonder boy in monster world (action/rpg)
Coolspot (mascott platformer/exists on snes too)
Chuck Rock (platformer/ in snes too)
NBA Jam Series (sports/in snes also)

i may post later if something else comes in my mind

I don't think reviving a thread that has been rotting for 5 years will produce any meaningful responses from those originally involved.

Making a new thread is a more effective option if you really wannt talk about it, skippy.

Do people scour the last page when they first register? Is that some unwritten rule that new members think they must abide by?

Methinks when someone registers, along with saying "Thanks for registering blah blah blah," there should be a big fat "DON'T FUCKING NECROBUMP" disclaimer.
