Oh a fellow Shriner was giving me some mild grief over this post, being that Varese released this soundtrack on Black Vinyl/Green Vinyl around 1978 and that it should not be on here, even though this MCA recording pre-dates it by 7 years or so.

Amanda

If it is the MCA album, state it as such and post it. Only the Varese album is forbidden. And, unless Jessie removes the link, tell the other member to stuff it. :)

Well........Could you be so kind as to rip the CD and post a link here? I only have the LP recordings, and that was the VS green disc version, which was pretty poor production of a record, I can tell you!

Yes, by all means, please post a rip of the cd - I have never seen this available anywhere and I've always loved this score. Flac would be beautiful since it is so long out of print but I'd be happy just having a nice cd rip in any format.

I bought a copy of the vinyl a couple years ago but unfortunately the vinyl was in pretty bad shape and sounded terrible. It looked cool though, it was completely green.

As would I!! The copy I have is crap, you can hear a radio broadcast in the back ground.

I know what you mean about the radio broadcast - that's the first rip I came across years ago and I was so disappointed to hear the radio in the background. How is that even possible?

There are better versions out there without the radio broadcast in the background, but hopefully WildwoodPark will post his CD here for us.

Scotty57
09-21-2011, 05:19 AM
The only way I can think of is the person recorded from the LP and set the mike next to the speakers, while listening to a radio?

I have checked the net and all I have found is the same crappy version and one that sounds like it was recorded in a tunnel. I do believe WildwoodPark will let us know when it is ready.

Thanks for those scans. However, I'm still confused over the whole CD thing. According to wikipedia, STV-81072 (which is on the back cover above) was a vinyl re-issue by Varese Sarabande. I'm standing by my theory that an official CD was never released.

Check post #16 above from Wildwood Park. MCA released it on their Canadian label. The cover scans are indeed from the LP release, however--understandable, since most of us don't own the CD.

I had the CD many years ago but did not scan the cover art, hence the Varese artwork.

Peter Schickele--as in Professor Peter Schickele, the world-renowned scholar and historical expert on P.D.Q. Bach? I have to say, I did not know he'd actually done a film score. Might be worth picking up for that reason alone. . . .

I love this film, the final scene of Lowell with the damaged drone I can play back time and time in my head and every time it makes me cry. Joan Baez's song is so perfect for the closing scenes of the remaining drone tending to the plants and wildlife. I hope that mankind never ever reaches that sort of future. Love the planet and all the life here, its all we have.

REALLY interested in this, but my anti-virus lights up every time I try - there seem to be multiple download links that don't seem to be trying to download the desired file - any advice? (Exactly which link am I looking for, and what should the downloaded file be called?)

(Have downloaded version linked in the first post, which seems to be a CD rip - but it seems like the link above is lossless, that's the one that I'm not sure how to follow...)

Hello

Can anyone tell me how to download an album on here? I can't find the place for the Silent Running album all it takes me to is a rar download thing?

---------- Post added at 06:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:07 PM ----------

I am looking for someone to exchange cdr's - i want to swop cd film/tv scores on cdr, I have a collection of just 1000 titles all from original cd releases.
I am finding I can't afford to buy them anymore and so many scores I would like. So anyone wishing to exchange cdr's in uk (no artwork) I would be very happy.

WildwoodPark

Go Here:

WinRAR download and support: Start (http://www.win-rar.com/start.html?&L=0)

Click download and that program will do the rest.

Also there's a few tutorials on Youtube that can help you if you have problems.

---------- Post added at 10:12 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:10 AM ----------

As to exchanging CD-r's that's not going to happen on this site and to be honest this is a whole lot easier once you get the hang of it.

Some facts about 1972:

- By 1972, Peter Schickele had recorded five P.D.Q. Bach albums.
- Five years before Mark Hamill tried to save the universe with C3PO and R2D2, Bruce Dern tried to save the last of Earth's plant life with Huey, Dewey and Louie.
- Mister Rogers' Neighborhood was only in its fourth year (nationally) on American television.
- You could send a first-class letter in the U.S. for 8 cents. (Can you say inflation?)
- I was a sophomore in high school.

Thanks and likes to everyone for the memories and the uploads and to WildwoodPark for the thread.

Oh, thank you!
I just had one of those (I hope you don't know what I mean) episodes where I wanted to listen to a score... Discovered it missing from my external drive archive... Searched the old DVD and CD library - (The one with each disc labeled in teensy sharpie-writ heiroglyphics)... Cuz I just knew I had it and must have failed to copy it to the sorted archive... But, it wasn't there! Did I never have it since the old LP? But I thought I remembered....
Then I came here. Now I feel better. Much better.
So, thanks a bunch!
