Thanks a lot for this!

Contrary to the cover blurp I thought this was one of the worst horror movies I've seen in the past 10 years. This seems to be a pattern for Kurt Oldman ;)

I personally enjoyed it. Kurt is a very nice guy though. He is very willing to post his complete scores and even allow others to share it. I had to make sure before I posted these since they are kind of a rare occasion for me to receive. I do have a copy of his score to The Confidant but the score is about as uninteresting as the film itself. Horror is definitely Oldman's forte.

Another example of how different opinions can be. I only read glowing reviews for this movie and couldn't believe how awful it turned out to be. I especially disliked how the score was used. Not only was it on almost non-stop (I hate it when that happens), they even used suspence music for totally trivial things like boiling water or preparing food. I totally hated the score in the movie. It fares much better seperated from the movie.
So you contacted Kurt Oldman directly about the scores? Maybe I should try that too.
Any chance you could post The Confidant too? I really liked the score samples he has on his website. Please?

I think it was meant to be a fun ride. Yes, I contacted him about the scores. I'll post the Confidant shortly.

By the way, since I had the recording sessions for this movie, I went in and created a little isolated score track (which originally wasn't entirely possible because a couple of cues were missing and the film version of Dark Figure Watching was not on the promo). It's definitely over the top but fun.

I just keep thinking of how orchestral most of this score is and how it must have been a very exciting and interesting day at the recording sessions.

It sure was meant to be a fun ride. It just was not a good one :)
If you are looking for a good movie which has an almost identical story watch House of the Devil.
The score on it's own is not half bad. It was just totally misplaced in the movie.

Looking forward to The Confidant. Thanks a lot in advance.

I'd ask Kurt myself but I think I've kind of annoyed the living crap out of him just to get these scores. Kurt is very open to sending his albums off so it wouldn't be too hard to get it. Try [email protected].

Got another surprise for you guys coming up with within the next hour or so. A score that was previously unavailable due to studio contracts and such and has now been made available. Keep an eye out.
